Take a look at these pics and tell me what you see…
Trichomes look crazy to me….is this just an example of Pilate-glandular trichomes? :pass: (Ice Cream Cake is the strain, photo)
:smokeit: Hey Frankie, what's good mate?
Hmmmm,... I think there's some technical picky differences in definitions here, which I couldn't pin down after looking... So far as I've seen, "stalked capitate glandular trichomes" are the only term used to describe cannabis' trich's, never pilate.
One source described pilate as having elongate stalks, capitate short or none,... which is wrong so far as I can tell for other sources! Clearly, cannabis is textbook in this, and most sources say the stalk length and head size can be variable in capitate types.
I think maybe the difference is in the number of glandular cells at the top with capitate being multicellular....

Ok gotcha…. Whatever they’re called…are the extra elongated stalks in the picture I posted…is that just genetics?

How ya been my friend? Have a good 420? :pass:

... I think so, some go from downright furry like many of the Cookie,"dessert/bakery" cultivars to name some common familiar ones, to much shorter smaller headed types I often find on Sativa-dom' types... Not always but a general trend IME...
Last season's Ultra Early Love, Ambers' Lil'Livers cross, Funky Miracle, and the Asian Haze are all packed with fine head/short stalked trich's...
UEL and AHz are of course Sati-dom's, the others not so much....

Long stalks are more fragile, and it's why some bud can be clearly spotted as commercial processed/poorly handled because of the appearance of the surface: lots of stalks with no heads!
