Decarboxylation

Raw cannabis contains acidic precursors (THCA, CBDA) that do not bind cannabinoid receptors strongly. Heating (decarboxylation) removes a carboxyl group, converting them into psychoactive or bioactive forms (THC, CBD) essential for edibles and many extracts. Controlled decarboxylation maximizes intended potency.
