Hey Guys,

Was checking out different soil clips on you tube and stumbled on one from a channel called "The Vedic Way", presented by Hare Krishnas. They pretty much claim to grow their herbs & veges in 100% cow dung. I am wondering if anyone has heard of this and if this is a standard medium for Krishna gardens ? or does someone want to call BULLSHIT (lol) ?

Wots the Bullshit.........the cow dung or Hara Krishna?

The successful use of 100% cow dung as soil , not Hares in general, I find them very happy, nice people, I respect all who live by a peace mantra with the planet..whatever the belief :-). There is a local Hare dham near me, they have cows & vege gardens. I was thinking of visiting and talking to the food growers there to see what they do.

LOL, I guesss the title of the thread makes it sound like I'm ripping on Hares, but I am not :-) :peace:

I remember when I was a kid my dad used to have cows and of course we would shovel their shit into a pile and tomato plants would seem to be happy as a pig in shit when they would grow out of it.

You can grow in straight cow manure no problem. It's a great source on NPK. The issue of using fresh un-composted manure is of course E.Coli. Fresh out of the steer manure should never never be used on anything that will be eaten by humans.

Fully dried then shredded would be okay though ?

I grew up on a farm, using cow dung as fertilizer was the norm. However, I would be hesitant to use it as my media. Its typically pretty potent stuff.
