Most would say that you go through more as it doesn't get you as high (vaping regular plant material pot.)
In my looking around, the cheapest vape for vaping plant material-based is the Magic Flight Launch Box
and it's about $120 for the base model.
But there are others that certainly know more...I'm a smoker.

I didn't find that I saved weed when I strictly vaped. The taste is infinitely better with vaping but I do think the high is more subdued. I have Da Buddha Vape and at $130 it's great.
I'm a smoker too - But i have a Magic Flight Launch Box for times when I can't get away with smoking.
I agree with Trap that vaping doesnt get me quite where i wanna be, but ... In a pinch when there's relations round and i can't smoke . i may have the odd cheeky vape or two.
The flavours are lovely and i prefer them ... BUt i don't get that heavy high from just vaping buds.
I find it well built and convenient - but if you that route - definately get the power adapter - Getting a decent vape from batteries - i found frustrating!
There are better options for a more "permanaent" vape - like a home vape that you can fit more weed in and probably get better vapour from - Arizer are a good make, and people seem to like Volcanos too!
Ipersonally blast though way more with the vape than i would in a joint or two ... but it is tasty!

I have tried to vape over and over and it just doesn't do it for me either. I have to blow out smoke..
I just bought another Hebe Titan 2 for $37 on eBay. I loaded it some Moham Ram I grew and was totally blasted. So I may get an upgrade for home and use the Titan when I am out and about.

I use far less weed vaporizing than I did when I primarily smoked. I get a full session from one load in my Arizer Solo, which holds around 1/2 to 2/3 the amount of bud as the bowl I used before. As for the high, I personally love the clean high from vaping and now when I smoke I feel more weighed down and the risk of a headache is a lot higher. Plus my lungs let me know about it the next day. I'm fitness conscious and work out a lot, so going back to inhaling smoke all the time is something I'll never do.
As for cheap vapes, I'd recommend spending a lot of time reading reviews here and on the vape sites. I think the Solo is the best bang for the buck vaporizer out there, and you can find them on eBay in the $125 range. Be sure to research the seller though, as most of them are not authorized dealers so you can't go back to Arizer if you have problems. If you catch a good sale somewhere like Vapornation, you can pick up a fully warrantied version around $175.

I actually prefer my vape - and since I gave up cigarettes, very nearly two years ago - its all I use.
I have an Iolite - and like it very much (and pretty near 100 bucks - there are some good deals on ebay). No batteries to recharge - just refill with purified butane and you're good to go. But also no adjustable temperature control.
To get the best from your vape, though - its important to prepare the marijuana properly. Grind it extra fine (much finer than you would when rolling and combusting it) - and let it dry thoroughly. If you keep your weed at about 62% RH - then empty your grindings out on a piece of paper, spread them out and let them dry for 10 or 15 minutes (longer is better) before loading.
I've found my buzz is much better, preparing it this way - and theres no perceived loss of flavor.

Just tried a vaporizer (Titan II) for the first time yesterday. The high does feel lighter, and less intense, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I don't think I am ready to give up smoking just yet, but I think I will do less. The vaporizer will be with me whenever I leave the house, though!

The mflb just doesnt draw all that well hence the light buzz...try Arizer solo or a pinnacle pro or a haze and you will def get a good intense buzz! Cough worthy tokes with a great clean taste. If you like strong thick rips then try the pinnacle pro...the clouds are dense amd rich..just a lil warm.
