as ive posted before , ive grown with vertical lights , each bud , lowers and uppers were recieving direct , unshaded light , the lowers still grew small , thats how they naturally grow , the goodness gets sent to the high points/ends of each plant/branch , look at your plants , even unshaded the second set of buds down a branch are smaller then the first ones at the top/end , NOTHING will change that , its nature/natural

One of my auto blue berries main cola got snapped by mistake... When I taped it up the buds seemed to get bigger almost over 48 hours, but I'm guessing this is because the plant dispatched the nutrients else where to keep it going, so maybe there is some truth in this... Not sure about others though

thats not the same as plucking off leaves , when the branch heals it developes a knuckle , which helps in the passing of more nutrients

you do need recovery time when doing it , but it does pay off if you have the time , i grow perpetual and comercially , i harvest every month and want as much as possible every month , not every 5,6,7 weeks

i want 12 harvests a year not 8

i combine vertical and horizontal with outstanding results , the key is to keep the more intense lighting above the plants so they can naturally reach for the sun

In regards to auto's / flowering plants (in other words, any plant with a time limit), I think it's ok to pluck leaves once they are completely yellow, or mostly yellow and starting to dry up on the ends/edges. Then they become a liability for rotting/insect harboring, as well as not doing much, and blocking light/air flow. BUT before that, as long as they have green, I leave them on the plant for it to either use them, or reabsorb them. It's a better Idea to just tuck fan leaves out of the way of bud sites where they can still collect light, without cutting them off.
