Hi all,

Just about to start my first grow and due to me going on holiday in February I need to start them this weekend really.

Got everything ready last night and went to open the seeds to germinate one of them. I noticed that there seems to be what I can only describe as a crack on each seed that im worried about... Pictures attached although they arent the best quality Im pretty sure they do show you what you need to see.

I started to try and germinate one last night anyway in a wet paper towel so will check it when I get home from work but are all my efforts in vain if these seeds are duds?

I really hope they are ok because I won;t have time to get more seeds in time as they need to be started asap :(

Apologies if there is nothing wrong with them but I will put that down to my lack of experience given this is my first time

The best view of this is in the pictures with all 3 seeds, if you look at the seed at the bottom of the picture it almost looks like a chunk of the seed is missing?

That is reassuring! Thanks man I really appreciate you taking the time to look for me
No problem :pass: I just took a close up of a Walter white, I think you're seeing the patterns and textured markings that form on the testae (outer shell) of the seed as it develops.

Yeah that is probably right.. I guess we will know for sure tomorrow.

I did put it in a wet paper towel last night so should I see some signs if I check tonight or should I just wait until tomorrow?

If it's in a warm spot in that moist towel, you should see her cracking open by tomorrow.

No dice guys :(

Put into a damp paper towel in a warm dark place on Friday evening and still nothing when i checked before work this morning...

Guess this time around was just not meant to be. Going on holiday in the beginning of February now so going to have to wait until after that to start now as this was the last weekend that would have let it finish before that date :(

To be honest, I've always had a problem with the paper towel method myself.

I recently popped 7 in the past 3 weeks, and out of the 7 the ones I used the paper towel method either didnt germinate or died as a seedling. Although the reasons for my failings in the method are more than likely user error, Ive found that Ronins method has worked 100% of the time for me without any hiccups. Here is a link to his method. Very simple, and is now my go to method for germination.
