The seedling is pretty tall like 3 or 4 inches. My soil has settled a bit and I have enough to add another inch of soil. Can I do that or will it rot the stem or something?

you should be just fine, i do it all the time

you can add soil upto the first set of leaves

thats how i do it once they stretch -- you wont rot the root
if anything -- roots will increase :booya:

I fighting with the same problem. I follow the advice , and I put toalette papper roller around the stem and it fix, while they get stronger to hold the plant. Good luck! ;)

I mix rooting powder with a little water to make a paste
Cover the stem that will be buried in the paste then add soil
It helps the plant form new roots out of the stem.

Also if the stem is strong enough I give it a light scrape with a razorblade to help the rooting powder get to work. But not on seedlings, usually plants that have stretched
