New Grower Afghan KR, is it happy to be "LST" trained ?

Hi running an Afghan Kush Ryder seedling. Starting out under 40W of CFL 6400K and then outdoors for summer. All going ok.

Q1) Does this strain specifically respond well or badly to LST ?

I normally top and LST my Paradise Auto Wappa and it responds well. I know commonly accepted knowledge is do not top autos, though I know a few people on here do.

Q2) Have you specifically topped an AKR before and how did it go ?

I hear it is a great strain so look forwards to the grow proceeding.

I've grown AKR 5 or 6 times - they respond well to LST but don't need much of it.

They don't have much horizontal spread, so i normally let them grow straight but have sometimes just bent the main cola and done some minor tying back of side branches.

Never topped an auto tho. In my 3L pots the AKRs get to around 16-18 inches high.

Fantastic pictures and plants Steelrat, is thta16-18 inches above the pot height or including? Thanks. I was thinking of fimming which is slightly less traumatic as I gather and quicker recovery. Those plants you grew are really a thing of beauty.

I grew one over the winter and bent the main stem so it wouldn't hit my lights; really resilient, no problems for me either. Vigorous! Can't wait to try it again.

Day 20 on this and I had my first preflowers yesterday, plant was FIM topped last Thursday. Maybe a little slow compared with some grows, mainly due to lack of good weather, but it is nice to see the first pre-flowers just the one yesterday, and now has 5 in total, hoping for some decent sun.

Very surprisingly almost no smells from this Afghan Kush Ryder so far day 20. Complete ok to have it indoors with no odour control at this time. Obviously not going to be the case when it starts getting a pong on.

So far so good.

Going ok still. Only problem is there does not seem to be an immense amount of trichomes yet, day 36. It's budding but it seems a little slow to me. It likes the good weather at the moment thats for sure.

I found it is not particularly smelly strain so far (probably trichomes and terpene related/lack of trichomes as yet.

Does this strain frost up closer to the end ?

Mine had a beautiful hashy smell towards week 5/6 and trich's defo start to show about then. It states the plant takes 55 days seed to harvest but that is bull IMO as mine is on week 11. And am possibly going to chop 2moro. But guess it's all down to the pheno.

Thanks there..... well it has certainly taken on a growth spurt in the last 6 days... many more trichs and the pistil growth rate is up for sure. So doing very nicely now, the sun makes all the difference.
