As most of you know Sweet Seeds have recently joined us on AFN.

Fans will have seen the many great Sweet Seeds crosses already on site...

and although the crosses need no introduction.. we thought it would be good to have a talk with tommy and Jayp about Sweet Seeds as a Company...and to get to know them a little better.

so..we sent wg 'round with some good coffee and a couple of joints to get a
little insider information about what we are to expect from Sweet Seeds on
AFN..stylez rasta smoke

Q..How long have Sweet Seeds been breeding Autos?

The first autos from Sweet Seeds reached the market in 2009.

By the time Sweet Seeds released Speed Devil, Fast Bud and Big
Devil. But all the
selection and breeding work started a bit earlier,
in 2007.

Q..How many different strains do you currently offer?

22 autoflowering strains and 22 non-auto strains.

Q..Do you make feminized seeds? If so which
method do you use?

Yes, Sweet Seeds is a seedbank specialized
in feminized seeds.

The method used since the begining as a seedbank is sex reversal
using STS (Silver ThioSulfate).

Q..What new Sweet Seed strains are in store for 2013?

All the Sweet Seeds new strains for 2013 are already available.

Three purple flowered autoflowering strains from a collection named The Red Family.

They are:
Red Poison,
Black Cream and
Dark Devil.

Sweet Seeds also released a new product in 2013.

These strains are not autoflowering strains but they have a flowering period as fast as autos.

A selection of autoflowering strains was used to breed these new
strains but only the fast flowering trait is present in the final product.

They are still photoperiod strains and will only flower with 12/12 but then they have an ultra fast flowering.

One could say it's almost like being able to keep mothers
from autoflowering plants, as the clones taken from these mothers will
be ready as fast as if they were autos.

For a start Sweet Seeds decided to do this with 4 well famed classics:

Green Poison F1 Fast Version,

Sweet Special F1 Fast Version,

Cream Caramel F1 Fast Version and

Sweet Cheese F1 Fast Version.

Q..What's one strain everyone should try from the Sweet Seeds collection?

My personal opinion is...
For non-autos: Green Poison.
For autos: Cream Mandarine.

But the all time favourite from the Sweet Seeds team and our most awarded
strain is Cream Caramel (also available in autoflowering version and in
Fast Version).

Q..What is the target market for your strains?
(I.E: Outdoor, autoflower, production, medical patients)

Sweet Seeds strains are known for having a sweet and aromatic taste/aroma.

Yet no strain reaches the market if it's not a very productive strain.
We also have a very good selection of strains that are favourites of medical patients, such as

Cream Caramel,

S.A.D. S1,

Double White

and Mohan Ram,

All the strains from the catalog are suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing, so I think the final answer to that question would be that the target market for Sweet Seeds strains is every grower who likes to get easy to grow plants, with a very good production of quality flowers that are specially sweet and aromatic.

Q..What's one technique that you believe should or should not be incorporated into growing your strains?

We believe that cannabis is a wonderful plant that can respond very well in a lot of different grow conditions.

Humans and cannabis share a relationship that comes from ancient
times, when no modern grow techniques were used and yet man would get
great benefit from using this miracle plant.

From germination to harvest a lot of mistakes can be made and it would
be insane to list all of the possible mistakes, so I answer that question by saying that sometimes, when the grower knows what he's doing, the originality of the methods and resources applied can allow for the best results not only in terms of production and quality, but also in terms of an healthy human-plant relationship.

We once did grow diary competitions in a few forums and our best grow diary evaluations would go to all the growers who do their best finding alternative ways to get good results.

We love to see how a grower that lives in a place where he/she has no access to any kind of growshop cannabic products can get excellent results with homemade stuff.

But yes, I personally love a good LST grow and any method that
allows to take the most out of a short indoor space.

Q..What fertiliser schedule do you Recommend for Sweet Seed Autos

As little as possible.

Best advice is to use an organic soil rich in organic nutrients. It will have all that the plants need for the first 3 weeks. After the first 3 weeks, if the grower likes to do a transplant right before flowering, new soil will be used and so they have
for an additional 3 weeks.

So, given that they are usually ready 5-6 weeks after flowering starts the grower would only need to use liquid fertilisers when the "traditional" flush timing arrives, which would make no sense...

Because of this most of my personal grows with autos were done from seed to harvest without any liquid fertilisers.
But
I have to admit that using small doses between the 2nd and the 4th week of flowering helps to improve final production and that's where I think that Sweet Nutrients and the Autoflowering fertiliser line will have a good impact helping growers to get the most out of Sweet Seeds
strains.

Besides that a flower booster should always be used from 1st to 5th
week of flowering (or until flush if the grower flushes his/her plants).

Q..What Lights do you recommend for Sweet Seed Autos

18/6 of the most powerful HPS lighting. I'd personally always use at least 600w
HPS per square meter.

Good read.....I am growing a Big devil XL outdoors.......Great information.

As Far as growing with what ya got...manure,kelp,and mostly organic stuff,no fancy grow shops around here.

Ya have to LST outdoors IMO...just to keep the mould away, and get the air blowing through the plants...but what do I know ?

Just a first time auto grower here :smokeit:
