:jump: Aloha AFN~

I am new to this site, have never grown an Auto, and since I'm having problems with my recent Devil's Harvest Shoreline grow I have since sworn off of fem. beans forever... I still have some but I may never buy any again (please insert sad face here). :(

I happened upon this site researching a strain I'm waiting for from Herbies; Dutch Passion Orange Hill Special (regular beans & some THC Bomb reg) and was amazed (floored actually!) by TaNg's grow results. I know they did the fem. version but the outcome was impressive.

I have been lurking around these types of forums for years but have never felt comfortable introducing myself, mostly because I don't feel I would have much to contribute in terms of knowledge. I've completed several organic grows but I have (almost) never been satisfied with my results: smell, taste, potency etc. My Mandala Satori runs have been pretty good but I'm more of an Indica dom kinda consumer. My medical issues are insomnia (its terrible) and lack of appetite.

I grow indoor so I have some restrictions with height (sp?) and in the summer with heat so I'll shut it down and paddle board as much as possible... me on the water is my second favorite thing to do.

Thanks to Attitude Seed Bank and them giving away freebies I noticed that I have a few Autos, I was gonna give em away because I didn't know anything about them. To be honest I kinda like the idea of my plant being smarter than I am, adhering to their own schedule.
I have:
Dinafem Cheese Auto
G13 Diesel Auto
Blimbum AK Auto

Would you recommend any of these as my first try?
(I have a bunch more reading before I do tho)

I am most impressed by the welcoming nature of this forum; how much people are wanting to help and do so in a positive manner. It's the main reason I never bothered to introduce myself anywhere (trolls! ewww). While I am the president of the United Sarcasm Society (not really) I never saw the reasoning behind negative remarks and in people bashing.

I'm a perpetual student and I'm just trying to learn stuff.
I'm pretty stoked I found you.

Mahalo nui loa~

*Hapa~just means I am a 'half-breed' Hawaiian, and I'm cool with that.:Aloha:

Welcome aboard, Hapa :) It sounds like you'll fit right in around here! lol
I'd put that Dinafem Cheese in the ground :) Dinafem has some great genetics, and they've never disappointed me.
Sarcasm..cynicism..... yes, please! lololol
Glad you introduced yourself, and let us know if we can be of assistance :)
Tokes! :Sharing One:

Hey Hapa,

that is the way to do an intro. I feel like I know you already. Yes, Auto's are the way forward IMO and you came to the right place. Don't underestimate your ability to help others with what you have learnt along the way. At the very least we can encourage others to grow their own meds and make the world just that little bit better.

Saving the world, one spliff at a time. You n me bro'

Welcome to AFN, Hapa! We have some great info for you to grow your autos the right way, to maximize vegetative growth and yield! Here is a quick reference for you to follow to get the most of your plants from the time you drop your beans in soil, to the time you chop em down. The trick is to not stunt them in veg, and not give bloom nutes until vertical growth has slowed or stopped. He is the link...Welcome!

Briman has two REALLY good bits of knowledge there....Don't stunt veg and don't throw bloom at em until they are done going vert.

Fantastic advice....

Auto's have to be thought of differently right out of the gates. Think of them as being on a game clock that can't be paused....

With photo's you can veg as long as you want in preparation for flipping them...autos have "x" amount of days in veg, period...
and it's up to you how you want to spend that balance of days. So the key is to maximize size and structure during that period.
It has been my experience that the last veg stretch usually happens around 37-40 days...but that varies based on strain.

Briman's second bit of knowledge is actually the tail end portion of his first suggestion....and also is based on maximizing veg.
If you give them bloom nutes too early, you slow down the last portion of veg that you're going to get.

The clock on autos is always running...everything you do either helps or slows you down. That's why we don't do a lot of trimming
during veg...because energy used healing is energy not used getting bigger.

Well, anyway...that's my 2 cents. And Welcome!

Ohhh......and run the Dinafem. Great rep for their gear. :)

:coffee2:Aloha AFN~This is what I had last week...
I read that shoreline doesn't like to have it's main stem cut so when I asked :help: (for HELP, lol) other ppl about mainlining this strain they said, "it'll be fine... do it! &, I have had strains more picky than that so you'll be fine." (not their fault I shoulda just let em go a'la naturalle, bc the ones I did are fine, so far)
well... I found ballzzzzz on a bunch of em (a moment of silence for the recently dead, please).
I took a bunch of clones so I'm beginning again, and they'll go back into flower as soon as they are @ 6-8". (I mainly wanted to see if I could upload pics).

Half of these are gone now, even that beauty in the middle. That last one is like chest high now, beautiful and most importantly "ball-free".
My set up: I have a 4' x 8' x 6'+ tent under two 600 Watt'ers, growing in soil trying to be as organic as possible. Plus a tent for clones and moms.

Mahalo for the welcome its pretty cool. When I get home I'mma germ that Dinafem

Aloha nui loa:Aloha:

You tried to main line when they are that old? There way to old to be cutting anything bigger than a leaf. Of coarse they gonna stress and hermie if you start cutting off branchs
