Quick question for you.
At what point do autos start the aging process?
The reason I ask is because I put some seeds to germ about 10 days ago and they are only just starting to show signs of life (splitting etc..)
I'm hoping that they start their aging process from about a week into the seedling stage and not from the point you put them into germ.
I don't want a whole load of stunted plants if they start aging from seed. If that's the case I will abort this grow and start again.
Any info on this would be really helpful. :)

If you mean that you planted your germinated seeds into the pot 10 days ago then everything is on track it takes what seems an age for it to get going but once it does they will grow rapidly and after 6 weeks approx they will stop growing vertically and will already hopefully started to flower(this i presume is what you mean by ageing) If this is not what you meant then could you try and explain more clearly somone , if not me will be here to help you

the term "aging" is throwing me off...

the moment an autoflower seed germinates it begins to age...in other words the stop watch has begun, the race has started...unlike a photo that i can take all the time i want to w/ it in veg...

Allow me to explain a bit better. The way I allways start my plants is by using the damp tissue method and I place them in a pot when the taproot of the seed is about 2cm long. This normally takes about 2-3 days and another 1-2 days to come through the soil. So lets say 5 days max from seed to new shoot.
The seeds I have currently in the damp tissue have been in there about 10 days and are only just starting to split.
Normally with autos I would expect them to start showing sex at around day 25 after the shoot has broken soil.
What I'm worried about is the length of time its taking to get a tap root.
If I potted them up tomorrow and they took anothe 2-3 days to break soil them this would be allmost 2 weeks. I really don't want them to start showing sex after 15 or so days of breaking the soil or I will end up with a bunch of 6" plants.
I was hoping they work the same as way as putting a photo on 12/12 from seed. If you do this the plant doesn't start to mature (age) until its about a week into the seedling stage.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer. Thanks.

I think smashed answered your question, a plant starts its life when it germinates, not when you start the germination process, this like every other part of the autoflower cycle is not a set number of days but just rough guidelines which may vary widely dependent on strain, conditions and care .Hope this makes sense and answers your question

Even if it takes 2 weeks to pop out of the soil generaly it still takes till the 4,5,or 6 nodes to show sex and that is a over all average....not to say that there not stunted in wich case your gonna get what you get.....I'v had beans hit the dirt 24 hours later it broke ground but ende up 4" tall, then I'v had beans take 1.5 to 2 weeks to break ground and end up big and healthy...the secret is to play around with a set geno and get to know it...If that makes any sence....

yea i had my kvs in a dome in peat pellets and in 1 day they were smacking the top.

Bit of a pain in the ass really as I have been using this same batch of seeds for about 3 years now. I am guessing the seeds are getting a bit old now which is why I'm having trouble with them (I don't tend to store seeds in a very stable way :( ).
I was actually planning to do a seed run with these plants to replenish my supply so I'm not too worried if I don't get massive growth as I know the genetics are sound. As long as they get at least 12" I'll be happy. :)

The strain is purple jems and the ambient temp of the room is 20'c.
Going to use colidial silver on the plants to get some fem pollen and cross them with an Autojack. :)
