Indoor Auto Critical Kush / Mars Hydro Grow (please critique where needed)

Hey folks. Been a rough road getting here, but after SEVEN freaking tries (don't ask) I finally got a seed to survive past the germination stage. Details are as follows:

Strain: 1x Barney's Farm Auto Critical Kush
Medium: 2 Gallon Hempy Bucket w/original 3:1 Perlite/Vermiculite mix
Nutes: Modified Lucas formula: Maxibloom/Armor Si, Cal-Mag, Mammoth P
16/8 Light schedule

Started the seed on the 16th, she popped the surface on the 20th. Transferred her to her bucket on the 24th. Gave her 1/4 strength nutes til the 3rd, then full strength since. (might be overly cautious, but after botching six potential grows so far, I'm just happy she's survived this long.)

About to move her to her tent and get more light on her - she's been under a 45W 6500K bulb so far.

2/24 - 4 days after breaking the surface. She only ever had one cotyledon, so I named her Ugly Betty.


Earlier today, 3/6 - She's coming along.



She only ever had one cotyledon so I named her Ugly Betty. Wish she wasn't so lanky, but not much I can do about that now, as far as I know. She seems happy now though - growing well, no signs of stress or nutrient/water issues that I can see. I hope getting her under the LED will really kick her into high gear.

So there we are, all caught up. I welcome any thoughts/comments/concerns! She seems a bit behind where she should be, growth-wise, but this is the farthest I've been able to get any of my plants after a pretty epic string of failures, so hopefully she'll turn out alright in the end!

Heads up to my friends & esteemed gurus @912GreenSkell , @Ripper , @budelee , @stepside & @Rebel . Been away for awhile, but I finally got one going!

Good to see you back..sending good Karma yer way.. Lucas maxi bloom is my method also..theres a few of us around,if i remember right @Habitual is a Lucas fann.. Anyway ,,grow some monsters!!

Hey,are you able to go full strength Lucas?? Heres a funny coincidence,i named a plant Ugly Betty too,shes 30 days and could turn a person to stone..here have a look..bwahahaha..if you cant write back,its because you turned to stone

Thanks much, kind sir. Good to be back. So far the Hempy/Lucas method has been great - something about the Kind Soil method was just not working for me. Just hope my lady gets over her awkward gangly stage and goes on to do great things!

Since you're kind of the man when it comes to LST'ing, when would you suggest I start? I know a lot of folks wait til the third set of leaves, which is about where I'm gonna be at here soon, but I wasn't sure if Betty's lankiness would make it too risky to start bending her yet.

Yeah, she's been full strength Lucas (7 grams Maxi/gallon, etc, etc) since the 3rd. Only giving her a cup a day since she doesn't seem to have hit the reservoir yet, but she's tolerating it really well. No issues that I've seen. Nice girl you got there! We can have a battle of the Betties, even though I'm pretty sure you're gonna come out on top, lol.

Shes a bit lanky but,for lst she may be ready at 3-4.. Im a HST guy,i cut at third node if they are healthy and strong enough,ive waited to 5 or more,its more important get hst done before stretch,then you can continue to lst till the end..

Nahh theres room for two ugly betties,mine is in the fast buds competition,i have three topped and spread plants and three natural( for harvest comparison)...i had some plants in the greenhouse that could take the full licas feeding,but my indoors i have to keep the ppm around 1200 max,i start low and work up..i have a monster cob light now and will try and push the plants farther,but i just finished the lamp a week ago..its 450 watts of COB led..

Nahh theres room for two ugly betties,mine is in the fast buds competition,i have three topped and spread plants and three natural( for harvest comparison)...i had some plants in the greenhouse that could take the full licas feeding,but my indoors i have to keep the ppm around 1200 max,i start low and work up..i have a monster cob light now and will try and push the plants farther,but i just finished the lamp a week ago..its 450 watts of COB led..

As far as feeding, I had her on 1/4 strength til the 3rd just because I wanted to risk stressing her as much as possible but looking back I think she could have taken 1/2 or full strength from the start. I know Lucas is usually with the GH liquid nutes and I forget the ratios but what I'm doing is 7 grams Maxi/.5ml Armor Si/1ml CalMag & .6ml Mammoth P per gallon of dechlorinated H20, PH'd to right around 6. Not sure what my PPM's are, but everything seems good so far.
