Hi,
Thanks for hosting such an informative forum.

I'm thinking about running the autopot with a "hot" soil. I plan to use Kind soil and put perlite or clay balls at the bottom. For anyone who doesn't know, Kind soil will last the whole grow with no added nutrients required. The soil goes under a layer of coco or other soil and you don't plant directly into it. The plant feeds as it requires. My plan is to get the 3.9 Autopot system, put coco/perlite on top, Kind soil under and perlite or clay balls at the base.

Has anyone tried this before?
Will I have issues with the soil staying too wet at the bottom?
Do I need to cut the soil and make a 50/50 soil perlite mix with the Coco on top?

Thanks!

i feel like i've seen something like this and it's been successful, but i can't remember where. i do know that autopot (the company) works with biotabs, who do a pretty similar thing, and it seems to work well.

use no pebbles, etc in the bottom.put an inch of soil to act as a sponge. Then the Kind soil per their directions. Start your seedling in a starter pot, then transplant at about 8-10 days. As soon as the plant is as wide as the pot, start using the reservoir. Hand water until then. Takes about 10-14 days after transplant. And yes, you can do it with autos. i do it all the time, and my seedlings shown signs of growth within hours of transplant.
