Grow Mediums Autopot query..

Good evening folks (Uk)

I'm just about to order my autopot systems and was wondering if anybody could tell me if i need anything else apart from the system itself, airdomes & pumps to agitate the Res.. I mean spares like root disks or aqua valves etc..

Obviously I'm aware that i need nutrients, medium etc..

If you order the air domes be sure to get the kit or all you will get is the plastic dome and not the tubing or connectors you need. I made that mistake and just improvised some 1/4 inch rainbird drip irrigation tubing and a x-connector.

Also order additional gold discs. And don't assume anything about quantities. For example the gold discs show multiple discs on the picture, yet you only get one for $1.80. In addition if you live in Europe where the use the black discs as well you could substitute out some weed block fabric. See the first page of my grow for an example. The same fabric can be used to make pot socks if you find you need them.

They give you a minimal amount of tubing to connect it all together, so if you plan on any distance between the reservoir and the pots you might need some additional tubing. They also sell a propagation chamber that fits right over the top of the autopots but I just use a two liter bottle cut in half.

Thanks for the reply Hemi.. I would of bought the domes only, but now i know not to .. I did wonder about how much 6mm they supplied you with & thought about how long I'd need with the res sitting outside the tent.. Thanks again for the tips. I'll Pop over to your diary right away..

Sorry didn't notice that you mentioned that you are from the U.K. At least you get to order from the U.K. store, they have better pricing on their accessories than the U.S. store. You didn't mention what size of autopots you were ordering but from all the journals I have read on autopots, unless you have a large area the XLs will probably outgrow a small tent.

No worries hemi.. Yeah sorry bro, The plan is to get a 4x 15L for my 1.2 tent & 4x 25L set for my 1.5m tent... I've been quoted £90 english and 75 for the 15L pot set..

Those Hailea pumps are not bad. Here they are sold under the brand name Hydrofarm. I have a four port and an eight port from my DWC days. If you get one with more ports than you need you can double up the air by taking two 3 inch pieces of tubing and connect on one end to a t-connector and hook the two loose ends of the tubing to two outlets. Now you have twice the amount of air on one line.

Thanks for that frogster.. i noticed in your diary that you use Ph perfect nutes.. Am i right in thinking that they An nutes have to be at full strength to achieve ph perfect?..
