It was such a good plan.

My first grow with a tent + hps is OK, but I did make
some mistakes getting used to all the changes.

I started a couple seeds with the idea of moving one
to the center of the tent when the first one was done in about a month.

I think they are both male. One has what looks like clusters of male buds.
Never seen a female do that. The other one has danglies, no white hairs.
I am pretty sure it's male, too.

I am recharging the camera battery, I'll throw up some pics later today or manana.
Mostly I wanted to vent my frustration. I've learned the basics (kind of) and I
wanted one of these to show off what I can do.

Color me annoyed.

If I'm planting regular seeds I usually start 3x more than females I want to end up with.
I once ended up with a room full of males after 5 weeks of veg, never again.

And I thought I had it bad! Feminised is the way to go.

I'm in the same boat as JKr If I want 3 I'll start with 8 or 9 that will also allow you to cull the runts.........

I have been pondering this myself. I have been looking at some Stone Dragon that seem to be only available in regular seeds. Being a bit new cannot see growing for a few weeks only to pull the males and cull the weaker ones. I know, I know... Still has to stink though.
Sorry your plants did not turn into what they were supposed to be!!
Here's a :karma Cloud: hit for you!

The one nice thing about reg seeds though is, if you want to either repro the strain, or play with making some of your own crosses (for yourself only of course).
The very first plant that I had showed sex last spring ended up being a male. I locked him in a small closet with a light and collected the pollen, and have made a nice cross with it all ready.

It is a bummer when all you end up with is males though. Sorry to hear that both of yours may indeed have balls!
If I have a choice I always get Fem seeds now though, some times we don't always have that option.

I've read increasing nitrogen during veg causes more females. I'm on my 2nd photosensitive grow, and 1st AF. I've been using GH Flora series nutes with the so-called "useless" schedule. Most people run GH at max 50% of it's 3-2-1 (tsp/gal) schedule. Useless runs it a bit hotter, but the grow component is proportionally hotter than the micro and bloom components. They're 60% of 3-2-1, while grow is 80%.

I've noticed slight indications of nitrogen toxicity (deep green tips, curled like a claw). Usually with my mainlined photo sensitives after they've been cut back. So, it does seem like the nitrogen is high. Anyway, I'm in 6 weeks of veg and have found only 2 males out of 14 regular-seed plants. Four plants have been confirmed female. Obviously, there's quite a few that could turn out male. But, right now it's looking like 70% female. I have to wonder if it's not the high "grow" component.

Something to try?

I hadn't thought of that. Of course, if I bring up the idea of a 2nd grow space with the wife,
I might get some organs extracted. Love the idea, put it on a small light until I could get
a gal to breed with him. Then maybe I get a bunch of seeds.

Oh I am definitely planning on doing some "breeding" ! I will grow a male for some pollen, but I find the transformation of female plants via colloidal silver or STS to create feminized pollen (no Y chromosome) absolutly fascinating. The mad scientist in me... Just gets my propeller beanie spinning!!

Late: all I have done up to this point is when I find a suitable gal to pollinate (get your mind outa the gutter:grin:), is to do selective pollinating on one or 2 lower branches. This makes plenty of seeds for personal use. All I use for a light is a household CFL (not sure what watt). It does not take very long for the male to produce pollen, and a little goes a long way.

wwwillie: This is also on my list to do as well. I was really excited when I first read about using CS to make Fem seeds, as I have been making my own for a couple of years now. It is an incredible natural antibiotic.
