Be patient or toss it?

What's up guys,

Just started a new grow a few days ago. If I'm not feeling too lazy or busy, I'll start up a journal for it. I'm growing 4 DP Blackberry Kush Autos in AutoPots and 4 AutoCobs. All coco and with airdomes. I let the seeds soak for a day as usual, paper towel for a day, then plant when I see a taproot. 3/4 are doing fine. This is day 2-3 since they dropped their shells. One seed however did not drop its shell and hasn't came above ground much. I thought it was dead but I can see green in its stem or higher up on the tap root I guess. Decided to remove the shell, just in case it was stuck and need some help with what to do next. This is day 5 in dirt. Should I just germ another seed or keep waiting.

Yes, each plant has its own humidity dome

Personally I would give IT at least a week or 2. I have had slow starters turn out great and some that started strong but crapped out shortly later.

Also, there is sometimes a film under the shell that will also stop it from opening up. I can’t tell from pic but make sure it isn’t still wrapped around it. Sometimes you have to do surgery to remove it.

.... exactly! ... there's a membrane that can getwrapped around the cotyl's, and if it dries, it's like cling wrap! Moisten it up with a mister let it soak in for a minute or two, then have a good look with a magnifier to see where it's sticking,... with a toothpick and gentle support of the stem, tease the membrane off working from different sides,...

Thanks guys. I worked the membrane off and it's made some progress since. It seems to barely have grown since but I'll give it some more time.

I've ran into another snag tho. I knew I would face a few learning curves going all coco but I'm here to learn and get better. One of the other three seedlings that were doing fine started showing a deficiency and I can't quite pinpoint what's causing it. They are all at day 6 so I've only given distilled water to them (my tap is ph is pretty high at 7.8). Before starting I read that some people feed straight from seedling and some wait a a week or so before the first feed. Wasn't sure so I decided on just plain water for a few days. Was that the wrong choice?

I can’t help you there, I don’t do coco, my guess would be not to feed that young but someone will chime in that is schooled in the art of coco. What distance is your light? That probably isn’t the problem but just curious. I think I’d watch the next set of leaves closely, the 2 leaves look perfectly uniform in damage so maybe you had the same case as the other one where membrane stayed too long? Not sure, that’s my 2 cents. Time will tell over the next few days.

coco is devoid of nutes, so start feeding within a few days, weakly,... I recommend doing a crapload of homework about coco man, it can't be treated like soil, not for feeds/watering, pH, CEC management, flushing,.... read up here, and CANNA has a great website with info too,.. many do's and don't's with coco,... think more along the lines of hydro, than soil with coco; never water alone, add Ca-mg at least,.. coco usually is run by feeding/watering every time in fact, with 15-20% run-off each time to keep salts frombuilding up; it breaths and drains better than soil, so you can get away with this and not have problems,.... pH needs to be around 6.0,... you'll need a TDS or EC meter to monitor your numbers going in, and to assess run-off readings along with pH,....
