I started out my thread well before I even saw this part. Sorry about that, let me introduce myself.
Hi there!
I once grew three little Lowryders back in 2005 when they were all new and looked upon with mistrust, and I was looking to get some cannabis without financially supporting the type of people that were supplying it where I lived. It seemed easier than growing photos, and as I was low on cash, keeping the veg phase shorter would mean not having to pay for veg nutes or timers.
Yes, yes. We all know better now. The internet knowledge bank back then was a bit more spotty. (Don't forget that YouTube launched in 2005.)
Anyhow, I bought an old speaker, removed its innards, installed hinges, drilled a hole, put in 5 20w CFLs hanging in a bunch, germinated four seeds, and plopped them all into a 1 gallon pot. No thermometer or hygrometer, no special soil, no perlite, no overly planned feed schedule, and no clue what I was doing. Out came 4 small friends, and only one of them turned out to be a guy! Hooray!
After the recommended 45-50 days or so I cut them down, pruned away the larger leafs, put them in a brown paper bag upside down, went on a holiday for a week and came back to around 20g of nice homegrown cannabis. Pretty decent outcome, if I may say so myself.
At the time it was a pretty big no no where I lived. So me and my friends had to hide it in each others apartment, and hide our use, from girlfriends, family, and some friends, while moving to new cities and so on. It lasted us 2 years(!) before we smoked it all up.
Fast forward 9 years (I know my thread says 10 – miscalculated), and I find the other 6 seeds in the attic. I was pumped! I have a super sunny apartment in the summer, the heat and humidity goes crazy in June through August and I decide I should make an organic window sill grow run.
I start to read up on what had happened during these years. So many new strains, so much new knowledge! I was amazed, and realized I knew nothing even with my former experience.
Well, after a couple of weeks of growing them in my window, the plants stretching (even though I have like 16 hours of sun), the soil never drying, and me thinking that somebody might see them; I gave up and bought a tent pack with a light, fans, ducts, active carbon filter, air pots, and then another light from Vaporled. Now I have too much stuff, haha.
Today, I'm a couple of weeks from harvesting the sole survivor of those three (the only female), as well as having one seedling and one bean germinating (one of the beans never made it to seedling).
Thank you for reading!
