Hey Y'all...
I found this site while germinating 4 Jock Horrors on my first grow. I thought I had done my homework. Boy, was I wrong! AFN helped nurse me thru the critical first stages of vegetative growth.

Chef/restaurant owner by trade, had a 2 acre garden by age 14, raised asparagus from seed and shot more critters than American Sniper. Took 3 years to harvest. If I'm successful here, I won't be surprised. Don't watch TV. I'm a reader. My MJ library is growing and someday, I hope to help others bring these simple, vigorous, amazing plants to harvest and beyond.:peace:

Welcome to AFN Eggman  I know you been here longer than me!!!

Seriously bro, I was reading something you wrote on another thread about having problems with ph using distilled water. You said you used tap water with "Nutrients balanced for Hard Water." What exactly does it do and would it work the same if I was using hard spring water? Peace bro!!!

Welcome, eggmansky :) You must be a busy dude! Chef/owner... Not much down time there, eh? (I used to have a minor interest in a nightclub, and THAT was a full time job! lolol) Looking forward to sharing the grow love here on AFN!
Best to you! :Sharing One:

Our tap water is over 250ppm. Any water that has over 70ppm calcium is considered 'hard water'. Spring water, generally is even higher...but mixed with rainwater you may be able to approach 250ppm. You MIGHT get away with using the spring water, using Nutrients designed for hard water i.e., General Hydroponics Micro for Hard Water. It's what I use. I switched to this and made other huge adjustments in the early stages of my noob grow and KABOOM!

I'm not sure of the exact science of these special nutes, but I think they compensate for the ambient metals already present in hard water. Good Luck & thanx!
