Hey all

I harvested pineapple express by barneys farm on day 85, most of the nugs were fairly dense , i am trying two methods to dry

1. Hang dry
2. Brown bags

In both cases buds are seem to be losing there density and becoming rather fluffy now,
Could you please advise why that might be,

Drying means every cell and tissue structure is no longer full of water; the plant cell walls and tissues are now filled with air. I always see loss of 'density' (more fluffyness) as buds dry. How could buds get denser as they dry?

Otherwise, fluffy buds can be more potent, better quality than buds that grew as hard gunked-together masses. If nothing else, a lot more trichomes are exposed to light and air with fluffy buds. Maybe others can comment on this.

Denser buds? Aren't they just buds with less space between or, ideally, fully fused/gunked-together sepals/leaflets and trichomes? If you want denser buds, it's as simple as manually with your fingers or otherwise squeezing them together, with sepals/trichomes usually sticking together so the bud is more "dense."

Genetics has a lot to do with potential bud density. Sativas will be more open and airy and Indicas will be more dense. After that growing conditions will affect the outcome. Enough light is most important for denser buds and hot dry conditions will open them up.

Curing properly has a tendency to tighten buds up a bit.

Thank you for answering my question.
