I'm curious if any members have had their DNA looked at and got information about how they might be affected by cannabis based on their own genetics? If so I'm curious if you found your results to be accurate?

I'm also surprised to see how much research has been done. In a 200+page health report I had 16 references to how cannabis might affect me......tho I did not pay attention to how many studies that came from ...coulda been just a few. I was under the impression that the illegal status of cannabis made research nearly impossible to do??

Another thing that surprises me is this reference to cannabis addiction. I was under the impression that there was no such thing? Being a cannabis user for the past 30+ years I can't really argue with this one LOL but I have stopped using cannabis for years at a time with no problems from stopping. Maybe they are just referring to psychological dependence....I can cop to that one. :p

Here is one of the 16 references to cannabis in my report. There is also a lot of talk about how cannabis might effect me if i suffered from PSTD.......just based on the current studies. It takes a geneticist (which I am not) to look over all of your chromosomes to accurately calculate your risks ( which I cannot afford to do).
For example, I have one set of numbers that indicate that I am not likely to ever feel paranoid using cannabis and I am very prone to it. I have to be careful about type and quantity in order to avoid it.

Research isn't always accurate either. We've all seen that before.

increased risk of cannabis dependence, lower (normal) cancer risk Association between ABCB1 C3435T polymorphism and increased risk of cannabis dependence. (2009). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19625010 Patients with cannabis dependence (n=40) had a significantly higher 3435C allele frequency (62.5% versus 43.8% respectively, P=0.017) and CC genotype (50% versus 20%, P=0.005, OR=4.00 [1.50-10.60]). The CC genotype was independently associated with cannabis dependence. This is the first time a significant specific genetic marker has been shown in cannabis dependence. ABCB1 polymorphisms may alter Delta9THC distribution, its psychoactive effects and individual vulnerability to dependence.

Apologies if this is not of interest. I find genetics to be fascinating especially now that we can look at all of these things so inexpensively.

In general the information I got was very accurate. It called out several major health issues which I already know that I have. For instance it said I had an 11.5 increased risk of a particular auto-immune disease which I have been being treated for for over 15 years now. I guess that's why I kind of trust the cannabis info it gave.

I am psyched that cannabis will soon be legal everywhere and research studies will increase in the near future. I can't wait for all of the discoveries that will be made and be helpful to so many people.

Some day you'll be able to input a few SNPs of your DNA data and find out what cannabis products are likely to help whatever ails you.

Ok that notion is prolly scary and complicated to some people LOL......someday that will change too I think. We've been living in the dark ages of medical care compared to what is to come.

LOL sorry, if you're high this is prolly way too long to read.

My current vape makes my mind go go go :p

That would be interesting. The only part that affects me via vaping my green is my memory (dreams too). If I stop, it comes back. Same deal when I was a kid. I've got to say, not having dream memories anymore is outstanding.
