This question may be better suited for the photo-period forum (if so, feel free to move it) but since I know a lot have people have cloned an auto..for whatever reason, so I figure why not the general AF - get more of a range of input/answers.
Recently I've come to really want to start a little herb garden....like...a proper herb garden lol So I'm looking around for information about growing specific herbs.
I found this bit on yahoo! answers in a response to a question about growing cilantro in pots -
On my first grow (the bagseed practice round lol) I somehow managed to successfully root and harvest a clone. Now, I bought some rooting hormone from the garden center at home depot (i dont remember the brand...but the lid was purple! lol) but if i'd have known that all i needed was a cup of water and some baking soda I wouldn't have wasted my $9.99 lol
I do remember reading a bunch of posts on random forums before doing it (cloning) and reading about a lot of peoples clones failing/not taking root.
I did note that the statement says cilantro is a ready rooter....so does this mean cannabis as a whole a more difficult plant to clone to start with?
Would the water and baking soda mix even work with a pot plant? I would assume that a plant cutting is plant cutting but as weed growers, we all know - whats good for the goose isnt always good for the gander lol

On a side note, I've had decent success (on the order of 60-70%) with clippings from refrigerated cilantro from my local Asian market. Cilantro is a ready rooter. You can increase your chances of rooting by either buying rooting hormone--or placing the cutting in water with a few teaspoons of baking soda added. Once roots begin to form in the water/NaHCO3 solution, you can gently pot it in a light soil mix.
