Has anyone used co2 bags that you hang near your plants and produce co2? They cost around thirty bucks and I was just wondering if they are just another gimmick or do they actually work. The guy at my grow store says they work great but somtimes they tell you anything to get you to buy a product.

Co2 needs to be in a confined area to saturate the plants. When I run it I have to shut down the exhaust or its kinda pointless. Seems like bags wouldnt do much but I havent tried them.

I just got one and have read reviews. A lot of people swear by them. It seems they may be less effective now than they were in the past. I am actually going to glue a funnel and tube onto the patch and run it into some water to see how much co2 bubbles out of it. since most of us don't have a ppm meter. Just need to get into my grow space to do it.

I use the "boost buddy" Co2 bag. Co2 is obviously an essential element of proper growth, however, if you're doing a very small grow 1 or 2 etc plants, then it is unrealistic to install a co2 system. The risks involved in operating a co2 system are relatively high for unexperienced growers. So, there aren't many options for small growers. One option is the sugar/yeast method. It works fine, but does not last very long at all. Some claim 2 week life spans, but I never got 2 weeks out of a 2 liter with sugar/yeast method. So, I bought a co2 bag. My reasoning is, you HAVE to do something to up your co2...even if it is just marginal at best. I was able to toss the bag in the tent and stop using the stupid sugar/yeast 2 liters. I haven't noticed any difference, or any signs of a co2 deficiency..which i guess would be death.

Anyway, not sure this helped. I'm a new grower so I don't have any REAL comparisons to go from. However, not having to replace 2 liters every week is worth 40 dollars without doubt.

Edit.

If the bags were more expensive, then I would say no way. But at there current price, it's worth tossing in.

Ive heard that the Mats work better than the Bags but Im just going off the reviews Ive yet to buy either of them since 50% seem like they work perfect and the other half say nope not good.So Im still on the fence too man.

I was looking into these bags also. I'm just going off reviews that I read and I'm tellin you I read every review on the web on the exhale co2 bags and there is another brand as well. Some good most bad, best review I read a guy put the bag in the grow space forgot dimensions had a ppm meter from his real co2 setup and ppm barely raised at all. I think they might only be good for extremely small cabs but they're too big for small micro grows the bags atleast 16-18 top to bottom. Also another important review I read was due to the ingredients, shelf life and overall life of bag, if its been at the shop or in storage for awhile which it prob has bc I've seen the same two at my shop and they swear its a new two everytime... Than the ingredients kind of loose a lil kick overtime and they only last maybe three months. Jus a lil info I picked up on researching and really wanting to buy this jus to get any Co2... Would of gotten if it would of fit in my cab tho

I just leave opened 2 Litre bottles of fizzy spring water in my grow cab, then use the same water to water them with just before lights off.

Yea Nemesis assuming your talkin about carbonated water, I used to use this method with photos years back, I would foilar feed carbonated water right when the lights cut off and fan leaves were coolish. I was going to ask ppl out here if this can be applied to autos and if anybody has tried this, thanks Nem

Your welcome mate!
yeah ive used that method for 2 Auto grows now, pineapple punch auto, Afghan Kush Ryder and they loved it, got nice yields of each, plus as I was experimenting with LED's to see how good thwey were when you had nothing but soil.
I didn't even use feed or anything, just carbonated water.
It definitely helped.
