Been having a rough time with temp in my grow room... Using a new digital ballast and an air cooled hood... Can't figure why temp is so high I the tent... That quite literally a light bulb went off in my head... I'm using an old bulb I had from my first grow aprox 8years ago... I had a hps ballast and am using the mh conversion bulb I had. Here is a pic of what I'm using in hood now

Than I thought why is the new bulb I have so much smaller in size...

Could the old conversion bulb being putting off much more heat than a plain old MH bulb like I just got? Well am going to swap bulbs out in a bit and soon find out... Question I have is the old
Bulb says 38,000 lumen and new bulb just says cct 5200k, so correct me if I'm wrong the new bulb has more lumens than old one?

New bulb

Update: the new bulb does run cooler. Old
Bulb at 100% was 38,000 lumes, if I'm figuring this right new bulb is 52,000 lumens. At 75% the new bulb is pushing 39,000 lumes but now
Have tent temps of 84degrees, and using the hot water in shallow bowl technique I have humidity at 61% so far... I think I'm heading in the right directions.. Any suggestions for a small
Humidifier that would be suitable for a 4x4 tent?

I don't have any experience with conversion bulbs, but I do know for a fact metal halide puts off more heat than hps. I remember it being described to me this way, "If a 400w mh puts off only 32000 lumens while a 400w hps puts off 50000, where do you think all that extra energy ends up?" The answer is apparently waste heat. I would only assume a conversion bulb does some extra sort of black magic which involves additional losses of efficiency, which in turn result in additional heat generated. But please take this with a grain of salt, just my assumptions.
