If anyone uses a cool tube post thier wattage and how they cool it.. what size fans, blow or suck air through tube and anything else good to know abt them.. I'm considering buying one in the next few days but would like some input on them from ppl who have had some experience

Well I dont have a cool tube but I have a cooled hood... so same basic operation... normally you'd pull negative pressure from the hood or tube through your filter to exhaust... however i have a bathroom fan... i chose it cuz its super quiet... 2.5 sonas... which is barely audible... and it does 90 CFM..... I use a Big Blue air ionizer for my odor control... works like a charm... my exhaust air comes out smelling like dryer air. 90 CFM seems to be more than enough for my 400 Watt HPS / MH light...

I think I could easily cool 1000 watts or more with this fan...
cheers!

cool thanks JM Im thinking of a 400 or 600, probably just gonna go with the 600 sense the ballast it dimmable and can run less wattage if i need it cooler

the light sprad on the cool tube mk1 is supposed to be pants and they get alot of negative press the mk2 looks better i have an silver star air cooled hood its pretty good

my 2 are on a 5" duct with a 280 cfm fan and carbon filter running 1200w

I've been diggin thru the forum cuz I'm asking the same question you did over a year ago! LOL anyone know whether you should push or pull thru the cool tube?? I have it set up like this: Carbon filter - ducting- 188cfm fan- cooltube - ducting with the air pushing out from the beginning of the cool tube.. My temps are 92 running it at 600w and 85 running it at 400w..

Im using a air cooled hood and i got it like this [carbon filter]===[hood]===[fan]=== If you really need to cool it down in your tent you need to cool down the room its in:thumbs: I had to buy a a/c to run in the summer

Damn Lol. Ima put the fan pulling air thru the cool tube and see if it will help any, I really really want to avoid using an AC. But here in the summer it gets very hot so I may have to, :(

It's been a month since you posted, but it's not that warm out yet, so here's my 2c.

Where are you venting the air? Can you intake fresh air from outside? If you're pulling air from inside the tent to the cool tube it's not going to cool that well, since you're starting with heated air to begin with. The most effective systems I've seen in operation don't rely on the light cooling for ventilation. If you can run it something like this:

Outside air > intake filter > ducting > cool tube> fan > ducting > Outside

You'll be a lot better off from a cooling perspective, you won't have to worry about odor being vented outside, though if you're not sure about the seals in your light you might want to put the fan before the light instead of after so the negative pressure isn't pulling odor in and venting it to the outside. Then just use your carbon filter on a fairly low speed to exhaust into the house, just to recirculate the air in the grow, though if you're using co2 you'd want to restrict the amount of re-circulation you're doing..
