I have a soil grown plant in a 6.5L pot.
When I mix the nutes, I assume that it is for the amount of water being used and I mix for that amount of water.
But then, how do you feed the plant? Should you drench it with nutes every time you water?
Do you use nutes the first time and then just water for several other feedings?
I don't want to over fertilise the plants or starve them.
But if I mix up 5 gal. of nutes at the recommended amount and then water the plant with just a couple of liters of the nutes, wouldn't they be getting just a fraction of the nutes they need?

No never dreanch the plant. And yes its for how much water you are feeding your plant. Here's how I feed ( its just how I do it)

FEED first day. WATER 2nd day, NOTHING 3rd day

Always make sure you water is ph at 6.0 befor feeding or watering

Thanks. I never seem to need to water every day. When I water, I do it until some comes out the bottom, then for the next couple of days the soil feels damp enough when I put my finger in about 1 to 2 inches.
By the third day I usually water again. Sometimes I water by letting the pot sit in the water and sucking it up and sometimes by sprinkling on top of the soil.
This is only my second grow and I really burned my plants on the first go. Now I am very cautious and I may be undernourishing it because it is not very large and the leaves are smallish.

If this is an auto then I think normally less is better than more. I wouldn't go anymore than half strength on the nutes. And then water thoroughly. I always water a little bit at a time over the course of about an hour until I get good drainage. Yup-watering techniques can either make or break a grow. Pipes

Your plant will survive a drought much better than a flood.
