I am sorry I know this may seem like a daft question but,

can you take cuttings from autos if done at the right time ?

I know this may obviously result in killing the plant but could you not end up with two or more new plants ready for rooting and growing.

Also what affect if done does topping have on autoflowers ?

I know these techniques are fine on normal strains just wondered if it can be done or if it will not work and just reduce yield in the end.

If you are successful with rooting your auto cuttings, they still have the same end date as the mother. If you consider the stress on the mother(stunts maybe 2 weeks(loss of 2 weeks of flower)) and the cuttings takes 3 weeks to root and start shooting up, you will have only 2-4 weeks of flowering before it is finished. Cuttings/Clones are ideal for photos but poor choice for auto's.

This does not mean an auto strain may be released one day that can be cloned due to some genetic mutation but highly unlikely.

Make the most of your plant is my advice, no pruning is best.

Thanks for the advice wasn't planning touching this crop but was considering doing it in the future but as you say there is not much point will just need to try experimenting on non autoflower strains

Its stated generally that topping is a risk of stunting an auto. Since autos are on a life timeline instead of a light schedule, if you stunt them it slows growth and decreases yield. Ive tried this before and it ended dissapointingly. As for cloning an auto, i have no experience, but everything i have read (tons of threads and posts) says its a no-no. Just my experience. Hopefully a more experienced grower will chime in with their knowledge!

Dr. Greenthumb out of Canada has an Autoflowering plant called Iranian Autoflowering.
It supposedly can be kept vegging at 24 hours of light.
Any thing less than 24 hours of light and it starts flowering.
It is supposed to be clonable as well.
That is the Only one that I am aware of.
I have not grown it, but others have.
He only sells his seeds on His website.
Hope that helped.
