Ok so I've had the gnat problem with my 9 day old malana bomb auto.. I bought some mosquito dunks and crumbled it in the dirt... And placed six stickys around them.. I also bought a bag of sand and dug up 2 inches of dirt.. I saw my plants white root and it started to fall over a lil bit.. It wasn't broken off just leaning a lil. I dug the dirt out with a spoon and placed two inches of sand... Now my bug question here is will my plant grow in sand? How will I know to water my plant since now there is two inches of sand? Do you think I dug to deep if I saw the white root? Also a little dirt landed on a node that is growing some leaves and I can't get it out even by blowing.. Will that harm it? Please let me know what you guys think.. I'm a little scared about all of it. Thanks guys.

i wouldnt dig into your soil too much man especially at such a young age, i think your supposed to layer the top of the soil with sand and thats what gets rid of them but im not forsure because ive never used that method..is the taproot still in the soil or sand? :smokebuds:

Yea the taproot is still in the soil... Yea I just read that.. Damn I screwed up.

Your just gonna need to be more patient with the gnats man . Just crumble up about 1/4 to 1/2 of one of the dunks and soak it in 5 gallons of water...You will need to water 3 or 4 times will take around 2 weeks to get rid of them . Next time I wouldn't put sand on thwm when they are that little.... the idea behind the sand is that the adults lay their eggs down by your roots so the sand on top prevents them from laying their eggs because they cant penetrate the sand without shredding them selves to pieces and also the babies cant get back up through the soil = anialation! . However when your plants are that small they are very delicate and it will shred them up too... Just try not to worry too much at this point and just let them take their course (if there is damage it is already done ) so messing with them is more then likely just gonna cause more problems . Good Luck with your grow! :peace:

we need pics in order to tell you that... but I have pulled a root out before on a plant that was 18 days old on accident and it seemed fine I didn't break the root though and re burried...as far as the sand goes I would just leave it alone ...again if you did damage it is already done. YOu may get lucky and they will be fine and maybe the sand will cut em just a lil and help build your stalk ...tuff to say ... But again we need pics :key:

those plants look just fine...the gnats will be gone in no time, dont trip tatter chip :D

man, am I the only person to not have success with mosquito dunks? when i had a bad infestation in my hydro setup, i followed the instructions, and while a significant portion of gnats died, a ton didn't...
