Well, what can I say. I'm a Jock in Belgium who has decided to grow his own to save money and hassle, and my first ever auto, a Northern Lights, is almost ready. Found this forum and have learned a hell of a lot already, excellent site.

It's not gone so well, it started off on the windowsill and was going great until I ended up in hospital for 9 days and the missus couldn't look after it properly. Luckily, it lived but had seriously stretched out in every direction so it was moved into the utility room where there was more space and the environment was better controlled. All I did at first was stick a 4000K 100W equivalent led lamp in the small room, then added a 2700K 40W similar a bit closer, and, well, its taken a while longer than it should because the plant went into some sort of "survival mode" and even though yield will be low it's still going to work out cheaper than buying.

Been reading Muddy's auto thread, and tonight I took his advice and nipped off a bit of a bud, chopped it up and dropped it in my vaper. I didn't get much from it so I took what was in the vaper and mixed that with some tobacco. I felt that....

That's with a point when most trichs that look clear. I reckon by the weekend, maybe the middle of next week, she'll have "frosted" up more and will be ready to start being harvested as the trichs have started going cloudy.

Next plant, a hybrid auto called Big Bang, is on the go in the same room under a new 10W led grow spot I ordered from China, methinks a "bigger" led grow lamp may be ordered soon.

And if all goes well with the second plant, well, I have some Acapulco Gold photo seeds lying round somewhere...

Oh, I'm just using common or garden pots and compost with hardly any extra feeding, nothing fancy, just good old fashioned simple things that work.

Keep up the good work folks, you've helped me already

Most definitely, you can get them so cheap nowadays ordering from China.

But we'll see how it goes with the second plant since, as I say, those 9 days in hospital did have a huge effect on the plant, this one will be trained better, but I am one of these strange people who thinks multiple smaller lamps around the plant gives a better overall impact on the plant since you're not only aiming everything "down" onto the top. Has me looking at LED grow strips, maybe knock up a frame to keep the strip in place, then that way the light comes from all around the plant. Anyone have experience of LED grow strip lighting?

Hi

We're legally allowed one feminine plant, and with the way things are with checks on the Belgium/Holland border and having to go all the way up to Rotterdam to buy in a coffee shop, plus the cracking down on dealers here, you end up with having to look at buying 25g or more from people on online forums (home delivery) and hope you did good research right and don't get ripped off or worse, you're putting a lot of trust and cash in people you don't know and, well, that's never good.

So why not grow your own, it can be fairly easy and even if you only get 15g off a plant you've still saved a whack of money (My outlay has been €10 on the seed, pot and compost, maybe 5 on leccy, 5 on the grow spots I bought, other lamps I already had) as that would be costing over well over €100 otherwise and you know there's no pesticides or anything involved. It's a no brainer when you think it's only a few mins of your time per day.

Will look at the micro section, cheers for the heads up.

hey buddy welcome to afn. sorry to hear of your dramas but at least you’ll still get some decent smoke out of her. its basically legal round here for 1 plant now too. local plods just stopped caring at last, its awesome : )
you’ll find everyone really helpful round here so if you need anything just ask. can tag us @EvilScotsman like that or pop into the live stoners section if you get stuck. theres always a squad of the regulars in there to point you in the right dorection. happy growing dude : )

Cheers mate

The dramas? These things happen so life goes on. As I say, she did come back to life and is "frosting" up nicely and although the yield is down on what it could have been I reckon a good 15g dry will be the end product which is not bad considering everything that has happened, including it only being at the window during what can only be described as a "Belgian Summer" which is only slightly brighter and drier than a Scottish one. Strange thing is that it looks like MORE flowers are coming out so once I start harvesting the ripe buds then she may keep going with more for a while. The pack the seed came in said NL Auto, but now I ain't so sure as I didn't expect fresh flowers coming up at this stage. I may have been luckier than I thought...

Plant 2 will go better, she's around a week old and is drinking quite well. Only a little over an inch tall, but there's 4 good leaves out on top and the grow spot is around 2" above the plant to concentrate the light as much as possible. This will, obviously, be raised as necessary.

Oh, I'm old-fashioned when it comes to watering/feeding. Always fill the plate under the pot and let the plant suck the water up, gives decent roots and reduces the chance of things going wrong with soil that's too wet. Has always worked for me with other plants and the likes of tomatoes, the plant takes what it needs when it needs it so the chance of rot is reduced. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
