Mephisto Genetics Fan leaves

Does anyone cut all there fan leaves of about 2-3 weeks before final chop down???

in the last week or 2 of life I will slowly remove the larger fan leaves. Just a few a day, I don't fully strip down to the suger leaves like some do... I suppose its all about the strain / timing, some are going to like it and some are not. Time it right and you could squeeze that extra 5%, time it wrong and It could possibly loose you some. I say go for it and experiment with different amount of a strip and at different times. You'll find a sweet spot that will work for you set up.

That period of growth I usually do a light tug of leaves between my index finger and middle finger (at second knuckle). If they come off fine and if they don't, that is fine too.

I only pull them if they are dieing. I figure they are collecting energy that is transported to other parts of the plant.

I have never done a comparison, but some seem to pull and have good results. I would guess the pulling of leaves might stress the plant and likely make flowers ripen more quickly . I know stressing a tomato plant (often done by twisting at the base) is a common method to quicken the ripening of tomatoes before frost.

That's basically the way I do it. When the leaves look like they're dying/being used up I'll give them a slight tug and if they come off that's just fine and if they don't they will later. Works for me:peace: Pipes
