II have a Hobbit (today was day 74 above ground) finishing up - more quickly than I thought, it appears.

I've been waiting for the fan and sugar leaves to yellow, as the first sign of approaching readiness - but today, when I examined the trichs through my 30x magnifier - I found about 10% - 20% to be ambering on all the buds.

I'm not sure how I missed the first of them turning -though to be honest - through a 30x magnifier, I wasn't even sure they had progressed from clear to cloudy! I'm looking forward to the arrival of the 60x-100x magnifier I have ordered!

I mostly vape marijuana while out-of-doors doing fairly active things - so I'm not really looking for couch-lock - and had planned to harvest her at as near to 50/50 as I could make out.

Which brings me to my questions:

How quickly can I expect the trichs to amber?
Is this literally an overnight phenomena - or is it pretty gradual - or is there a fair bit of variance pheno to pheno?

Is it usual for the trichs to amber before the fan leaves have been drawn from? Or are the trichs all amber by the time the plant begins to draw from her fan and sugar leaves?

And finally - is a 50/50 mix of cloudy/amber what I should be looking for to achieve a relaxing but still somewhat active high (I understand much has to do with the indica/sativa ratio - but I guess I'm wondering just in general)?

Thank you for your indulgence with my questions - this will be my first harvest - and I'd like to get it as near to right as my lack of experience will allow!

I honestly don't know the answer to that. If you are in a position where you check them everyday it can't hurt to look everyday until your happy with the results

I'd start cleansing (10 days to 2 weeks water) now and gather your curing tools, Hygrometer, jars, etc ... If you're at 20%, 50% amber will probably be reached in about a week ...

Perfect - I googled much of the info I was looking for, but couldn't come up with much on timing - so thank you for that, Chester!

She was grown in an organic soil mix, and has only had a few drops of GH organic Bio Bud and Ca/Mg+ in her lifetime (and one bat guano tea). Her last two waterings have been straight, PH'ed water - so she's well on her way.

Thanks again for the timing info.
