Have a single bucket non recirculating dwc. Have a Royal Queen Seeds Royal dwarf 4 weeks old in it. I cant for the life of me keep the ph anywhere near 5.8..within hours it is back up to 7.0+.
Ive used ph down, lemon juice, and vinegar. Has any of you dwc experts ever ran into this problem? Could it be my water? Im using dechlorinated tap water. This is the 3rd forum i have asked on, so far no one can seem to give me an answer. This is my first attempt @ hydro. Would love to get this problem solved, so i can decide whether its for me or not. I aoppreciate any help.
Thankyou.

What type of instrument are you using to measure your pH?

Peace.

Its a ph pen...spent 60 bucks on it....I know how to care for, store and calibrate it. That is definitely not my problem....Can anyone answer the water question?

yeah, also include pics and a run-down of your setup. Lots of stuff come into play with DWC. pump, light, nutes etc...

I tamed my pH problems with proper order of nutrient mix for instance

Nevermind...no one knows. Im just going to either transplant it to dirt, or toss it...its a waste of my nutes, and a waste of my time. Hydro sucks.

I apologize for my pissyness...............

when I bought my set-up it came equipped with DWC totes ,pumps, nutes ....everything I would need...I tried to keep the ph in range, but sometimes it would climb to 7 in just a couple of hours....I was using R/O water and ph down made for aquariums....
I always found salt residue on the bottom of the res...just guessing at this but,I think the 2 part ferts combine to form solid crystals and drop out of solution..causing a rise in ph...also the plant eats nutes and less nutes = a rise in ph...
also res temps have alot to do with it...the cooler the res = the easier to maintain ph..
I'm sure many ,many other factors influence ph swings in DWC,but I never had the patience to follow up on the proper way to do a DWC grow...

we have DWC experts on staff here...1 will be along soon..

in the meantime... in my sig there is an excellent iteration on ph and water... worth a read for the basic of understanding... dont think hydro will be easier than dirt... each has its own techniques and specific requiements for things to go right. Miss one and it wont go right.... same in soil. :2cents:
