This is my first griw. Blue Mystic autofem is five weeks old. She just started to flower. I feed her two days ago with 1/2 strength tomato tone 3-4-5 and 1/4 tsp epsom salt. More details are in my grow journal in signature. Anyways, her leaf tips are burned and slightly turned up. Overall foliage is light green. Can anyone help? Please!!!!

 Howdy! ....well, symptoms are very mild, and early, so it's hard to make a call,...god eye to spot the trouble this soon though- :d5:.... Usually, burned tips are a sign of mild nute burn, but with those up-curled tips, and some other spots/pale patches, it could be either mild P or K defc., both of which would fit for this stage,... I peeked at your thread, to see what nute's you have.. review for me please, what the dosage and frequency of feeding has been, besides recently? do you have a pH for that soil as well? this is critical for diagnosis, as off pH can mess with nute' availability,... I do understand about keeping the budget inputs low, but a higher PK fert. is highly recommended,.. that 3-4-5 ratio may not do the trick for blooming stage, reducing yields and quality,... doesn't have to be the $25 a bottle stuff! Epsoms are fine, but it has no Ca in it, only MgSO4, and Ca defc. is one of the most common defc.'s we see,... molasses can help with that, as it has Ca, Mg some K and a little Fe in it, but it's not a particularly rich source overall,.. 1 tsp/gal a couple times a week,... sugars will make the soil herd happy too, which in turn, makes you girl happy! ...So, what I trying to figure is if you're getting a little rich in the nute's, and thus the tip burn.... or are, ironically, getting a defc. from lack of, or possible off pH lockout,... fortunately it's early/mild, so no worries just yet, ay?

Hi Waria, Thanks for the awesome reply!

I started in in fairly blank organic soil and amended it with insect frass 2-2-2, vermicompost/biochar blend. She sprouted 10/7. I didn't ph soil or water. Used combination of distilled water and 24 hr tap water. On 10/23 I gave her a 1/4 -1/3 strength feeding of tomato tone 3-4-5 bag says it has 8% ca. I did use some weak ewc/molasses tea once or twice. Then I gave her most recent feeding. She doesn't seem to look any worse today, which I guess is good. I used jewelers loup today and see trichomes forming on sugar leaves and bud sites. I suppose I should get a pH meter. Should I get water or soil tester?

Can anybody help?

Ideally get both if your budget allows. That said your plant is looking pretty good thus far. If you need some nutrients cheap you could try this. http://www.aurorainnovations.org/8ozsampleform.php
I got my samples in 5 days and they have carried my two plants thru to week 8 and I'll def have enough to finish. Best of luck!
Grow well, be happy!

.... for soil growing, a pH meter (liquid) tester and an in-soil pH probe (Accurate 8 is the best for the money) are needed,....prevention is best, and trying to fix issues when pH "blind" is a recipe for FUBAR! .... the meter will allow you to test water, and nutrient soln.'s in particular, so you can adjust the pH of it as needed (yeah, more products to buy:doh:- but not expensive); generally, nute' soln's are acidic, sometimes very, depending on the brand,.. by keeping the inputs within acceptable ranges, you're less likely to have trouble with the soil,... and the probe is far more accurate than the run-off testing method, which also forces you to waterlog the soil,....:nono:.... so, symptoms are not advancing so far, even after this last round of feed?
