Hey Guys,

I'm new here and I need a bit of help :)

I'm going to be starting an outdoor grow soon and I was wondering what the best germination method would be ? I don't want to start them off indoors then transplant them because it stunts them, Just in case you are wondering this will be a guerilla grow.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks

Hey there Terry welcome to the AFN. There is already a ton of really great info on here. We will be glad to help but we also encourage personal research to get a good basis of knowledge. There is a lot of info on germinating already. Put 'germinating methods' or something like that up in the search bar and it will bring up more than you can read today. Good luck dude and glad to have you. :smokebuds:

I know the basic germinating methods e.g seeds between damp paper towel, Planting the seeds straight into the soil mix etc...

I just wanted to hear peoples opinions on the best method method for outdoor grows and having healthy plants.

Right on. I understand. There is a lot of info on that too. Browse around and you'll get a lot of useful knowledge and much quicker as well.

When i've germinated mine, i've found a post here where it this subject was discussed. Search it and you'll find it really quickie.
I've germinated my first seeds on paper towel without any problem.
Btw, there's a good article about this and some feedback too from users: https://www.autoflower.org/content/germination-183/

Ive always found that plants started indoors in april then transplanted out in may easily beat plants started outdoors in may/june . But thats with my latitude which is Wales and not New South Wales !!!. Why not start some indoor now and compare them to the ones started outdoors at the end of the season ? Youll know then for next year.
Good luck

I am also a newby here and read post after post on this site here, and all over the internet. The internet is so full of advice. I experimented with some bag seed and the paper towel method and I had nothing after almost a week. Now remember it was bag seed so who knows, they were probably old.. So I decided to put my first ever auto seeds directly in soil. I had three different ones. Dutch Passion Think Different, an Auto seeds ultra lemon haze and and Samsura Ultraviolet auto. A strange mix yes. I put them in the soil on saturday night at 10 pm. On Tuesday Pm the Ultra lemon popped up and then on Wed morning the other two popped up also.

I went this route as I was not very experienced in using the paper towel method and did not want my dumb ass to harm the seeds. So everything worked out well for me. I have always had great success using this method and was nervous as usually I have only grown bag seed. This is my first adventure in quality seeds and auto. So far the Think Different is a couple of days ahead of the others. I put them out in the Florida sun and them bring them inside under 100 watt equvilant cfls.

When in doubt do the natural thing one poster here said and I stopped my crazy thirst for knowledge there.. If you are not comfortable handling the seeds or soaking them due to inexperience like me, I would reccomend the directly to soil method.

The only thing I made a mistake on was leaving the Ultra lemon in darkness too long so it got too tall to support itself.

This is a great forum with so much experience and great advice and I look forward to my first auto grow.

Good post and attitude slim. Welcome to the forum as well. :smokebuds:

Hey, Terry. Welcome to the forum.

Nature designed seeds to fall to the ground and germinate with a bit of warmth, moisture and soil.

We can improve on that by making sure they point the right way down, making sure the top is slightly covered in soil and making sure the bit of ground they're on is moist and warmish.

If you feel you want to remove indoor germing and transplantation from the equation, it seems to me (logically) that slapping the bean in the ground tip-down and watering it is the best overall - and only other viable - method for germing outdoors.

:peace:
