I like this concept great job with the plant as well ,is the medium able to be used like soil like could I top dress or does it have to be like hydro?
I haven't personally tried it but I was informed that Bio tabs can be used with the substrate. The top is going to be incredibly dry if you only sub irrigate and the plume will be uneven if you top water it. I'm not too sure how that would work out.
