Hey everyone,
I have a small 2x2x4 tent that im using and I feel like im starting to struggle with heat and its not even warm outside yet.

My ambient temps of my room stay between 71-73 degrees. Inside my tent I struggle to keep the tent anyplace between 81-84 degrees. I do run the tent at a negative pressure to help suck the hot air out faster. I am blowing the warm air out into the room that im also sucking air into. I have my passive intake duct about 5-6 feet away from the carbon filter exhaust. This is where im grabbing my rooms ambient temp from as-well.
Tent setup
  • 2 300W Mars Hydro blurples
  • 6" AC Infinity Fan drawing air out the top into a carbon filter
  • 2 6" fans blowing air around the tent
  • 4" passive intake tube
I feel the tent only raising 10 degrees above room ambient temp is pretty good but im looking for some way to help bring that down even more. As it gets closer to summer I feel like I will be dealing with much hotter temps in my tent.
One thought I had was switching the blurple lights out for a Budget grow LED 130W (https://www.budgetgrowlights.com/co.../series-3-lm301h-130-watt-dimmable-grow-light) or even a HLG 135W (https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/kits/products/135w-qb-v2-bspec-led-kit) as I then should be-able to mount the driver out of the tent saving myself a few degrees.
Just wanted to get everyones take on what I should do. Happy growing!

Hey buddy, I grow in 2x2 tents in a closed bedroom as well. I run 2 tents in a room that is about 10x10.

My tents are usually 5-6 degrees hotter than the room.

I think you are on the right track with getting some more efficient lights going.

I build my own, but HLG lights are top of the line and far more efficient than the old blurples. IMO 120 watts is PLENTY with an HLG or similar light. I dim my lights to 100 watts or less usually, and with autos even lower. So the HLG 135 would be a good fit, or even the Spider Farmer 1000 which pulls about 100 watts from the wall, if you are looking to save some $. The budget light uses great diodes, but also uses some no name driver brand... I would avoid that personally.

The other thing I noticed is that your intake is too small... You really want twice the size of intake compared to exhaust when you are using passive intake. So that would mean two 6 inch diameter intake vents. Otherwise you might consider an active intake with a small 4 inch fan.

Growing in a 2x2 is a unique challenge, good luck buddy!

2x2 tent? Get two of these, www.cobshop.net Autocobs 3500K and you will be very very happy. @BigSm0 builds them. .49 amp, no fans, small and easy to move, nearly as bright as the sun, with a low heat throw.

The way i set my tent up is by blowing filtered air into the tent via 6" AC Infinity, that way it is positively pressured. I figured it would help keep unwanted things out of my tent. I also hooked up a fresh air intake and "Y'd" close to an HVAC vent for more cooling in the summer. I also have an Exhaust fan, another 6" AC Infinity on a controller for high heat and humidity. I may have went overboard but keeping a stable environment keeps the plants happy. Here is a few pics of my set up.

Interesting setup. How many hours did it take?
