Don't waste you time with that .Either add more cfl's or google T5 HO grow lights which are much better for growing.

really?

its hard to get a cfl that will sit as flush as these will, and im very limited for space in the cabinet in mind, and i just thought this will cover the dark side that has a little extra space. really no good even for that? i mean it says 2800 lumin on the 45w version i saw. the red 45w cfl i use in that chamber are only 2950 lumin.

its was intended to go on the right hand side of this chamber, is there a better way to do it?

I'd say it's a good option for supplemental light.

If your just using it for side lighting then it would work ok, but not for main lighting.

Oh bye the way your buds are looking real nice, good job.

cheers mate, really happy with how that one has turned out given its a sativa dominant and i'm using low watt cfl. its a mephisto fantasmo, about day 70, already flushing.

and yeh, the light is just intended for a side light to add move coverage lower down. the top two bulbs are 45w, but im thinking of bringing those down to 35w like the one on the side, then adding the 45w 2d one on one side just to provide more coverage for leggy strains like this one.

found this which gives lumin per watt on these type of bulbs and also some tube type bulbs, pretty useful, their 28w verion is pushing 2000 lumin, which means they are competitive in terms of lumin per watt to the cfl coils im using now.

i went back to the shop that had them, and they have sold out. figures. but. i have found these 55w versions on another site so i will probably get a couple of these given this new info and see how they do.

will let u guys know when they are fitted, but i will need to order parts online a starter and a ballast and need wires and some sort of plug needs to be fitted so might take a month or two till they are up and running. wish me luck

Hi Dendrite,

If you want to go this rout and you can't afford the space a t5 fixture would take up I would buy a fixture and take out the internals. Buying separate components always cost a lot more in my experience. Also magnetic ballasts are not as efficient as digital and generate a good deal of heat

i didnt think about the heat from the ballast, but at the end of the day its only a tiny thing, a few inches, and in this set up if i buy the parts separate i can have the starter and ballast outside the cabinet with the just the bulb inside really flush to the side. well that was the plan.

not looked into the t5, but i think its tube light isnt it? and the side this bulb will go on is only 30cm deep. + i didnt think the tubes were very good, but like i said i havnt looked into those. will have a look into them later and see if its suitable.

thanks for the input.
