I am thinking about growing in soil instead of coco though 1 main reason I wanted to do coco was that I have read it has less bug problems and I have read about people getting bugs in the bag of soil they get. Have any of you ever had bugs in biobizz light mix or buildasoil soil on there?

"Bugs" go along with living, organic-decay-based soil (what you want). Having them may simply be unavoidable with soil. [Ask soil growers; I grow in coco]. In contrast, coco (or rather, good coco) is pretty much inert, should have no readily microbial-digestable components, much less food for insects.
I don't recall packaged soils being sold with claims of being insect-free. Am I wrong? What % of packages soil bags contain visible "bugs?"
You can get insect larvae hatching and eating roots in coco (and I presume also with soil). But that is why you should be using a B. thuringiensis (Bt) toxin product, mosquito dunks, etc. in your feed water, to kill the larvae; and you should be doing this with whatever medium you use, whether coco or soil.

All bugs aren't bad. Some are beneficial to the soil. Most quality living soil will naturally have bugs.The living soil blend I use from build a soil usually has a good amount of tiny white soil mites, which are beneficial in several ways. You can barely see them and they do not fly or bother anything. If a regular bag soil like biobizz has bugs, it's most likely be due to the store or warehouse having the bugs inside their building.

I've used bb lm for years. Never saw a bug. Regardless, I keep DE on hand.

Same here (except only for a year lol). Not had any bug issues with biobizz lightmix yet.
I tried a bag of BioBizz Light Mix with several plants. It seemed very 'light,' run out of nutes after about 7-10 days, after which it seemed and I treated those pots no different from the coco/perlite pots (but keep in mind, I don't bother to adjust pH, and you probably should adjust Light Mix pH like that of other soil).

I start every plant in a solo cup of biobizz light mix, trans to a 2 ltr pot at 10 days....DI water only until sexed...lil fish mix, bloom and calmag, 6.4ph we good
In 15 yrs, I've used a bunch of different organics...light mix has become my fav and I trust the quality...cant imagine coco being as easy.
