Hey peeps

Hope everyone is doing great this fine evening :tiphat:

Some people kindly pointed out to me that despite posting a couple of times I haven't done an actual introduction yet so let me just say I have been lurking around this site for a while and have only good things to say about it - I wrote numerous times that you simply cannot find this breadth of knowledge, helpful people, colorful characters and good vibes anywhere else on the internet :) I have fallen in love in this place and hope to spend many many more hours lost in reading.

I am new to growing and have a great respect for the plants, I think they are a great gift to all of us (for recreational use too!). I suffer from nutcracker esophagus spasm - it is a 'benign' condition that makes your esophagus spasm and contract, it happens to me around 2-3 times a week usually in the evening and the attacks last at least 3 hours - on Wiki page you can read that it quite literally feels as if one is having a heart attack, so not a pretty thing.
My doctor has of course told me there is no cure (except surgery) and the medications used to manage symptoms are hard to get and are poison (nitroglycerin). My doctor told me I just need to grin and bear it basically, but I found that cannabis works miraculously well, so if you know anyone with those problems - tell them, it might just save their day! The pain goes away within minutes and I can function again instead of wriggling in pain on the floor because it's so effective at making those muscles relax. To think that this plant that has virtually no side effects is something that is illegal in most corners of the world is just insanity.

I know this is a long post but I've also just finished my 1st grow and wanted to share my thoughts. If any newbies are reading this - pay attention! I grew 2 Auto Blue Mystics in a 2x2x4 tent (tiny!) in 6l smartpots (coco/perlite) using a mix of nutes (mainly Canna) with a GN0006 as my light.
Here is what those plants had to go through!

- It's a miracle the seeds popped since tent was freezing cold and I planted them straight into final pots
- From then on, they spent 1 MONTH in seedling stage (no jokes) since I was waiting for '3 sets of leaves' to emerge before feeding. Little did I know that this advice was meant for SOIL growers, not coco, which is an inert medium! Oddly, the plants didn't wilt/yellow, but didn't grow either.
- Tap water for the win, not aerated so with all the chlorine and added 'goodies'
- I had no proper PH meter throughout the whole grow - was using PH strips from about halfway through. (I watched the plants like a hawk for deficiencies and then did my research here!) (ppm/ec meter - forget it lol)
- One of the plants was attacked by thrips, later on recovered
- The other one has had her main stem broken in half due to my poor attempt at LST
- Burned them with the bloom booster
- Due to no vertical height the plants got bad LED burns on upper fan leaves, despite light being approx 10 inches from tops

And you know what? Those Blue Mystics just shrugged it all off like a champ and kept powering on! I am astounded at the amount of ROCK HARD buds I got after harvest. I now have a tent full of drying goodness - attaching some pictures, apologies for the quality and oddness, my camera is just bad. I appreciate this is not a lot at all for most of you, but for me it's just great.

The point is - I made all those mistakes so please don't make them yourself! (if any first-timers are reading)
BUT
The plants still pulled through and produced, I think it was due to good lights (node spacing and bud site number was splendid with GN), adequate temps/environment and of course the many threads on here that helped me tremendously. So really, if I could do it - anyone can do it :)

Thank you to everyone that read this in its entirety, hope you have a fantastic evening and hoping to hear from you all soon :d5:

:Sharing One:Thanks for the great introduction and welcome again to the forum.Glad to here the weed is helping with your problem and you have learned from your mistakes on your grow. This is how we all learn and better each grow as we go.

Peachy my friend, I did not realise you had not done an intro. But you sure have made up for it.

Now, pay attention yawl out there. If Peachy can grow such fine meds (and they are fine) YOU can also. Come along and do an intro also and say Hi and join in on the AFN vibe. I am sure londonpeach will not mind me hijacking his/her intro to say this.
You grow, you learn, you share. It's the AFN way.

A warm welcome then, if a little belated. eP.

EP It tickles me that a Brit would use a southern U.S. slang. But if you're going to do it, get it right. A yawl is a two masted sailboat. Y'all is the word you need. Take it from a southerner

Great intro Peach. Next time start a journal from the get go so all of your friends at AFN can follow along and provide helpful tips, good karma, encouragement, and maybe even a little comic relief and along the way. I you did that well lurking, just think what you could do with assistance

Duckster, I stand corrected.

What else do us Brits feck up ? We are here to learn and be educated. No offence taken. I remember when I worked for JCB and we were planning a new plant in Savannah Georgia, we had a crash course on Southern Etiquette !

JCB took nothing for granted! But for the life of me I can't remember what was in the course resume.

cheers, eP.

No offense intended EP. I love the UK. Have many friends there. My sister has tracked my father's linage back to the Plantagenet family in the 1300s who first showed up in the US in new England in the 1600s. Mother' parents were Welsh. Mother-in-law was (Irish but raised in Wales) was a Brit WAC in WWII. Married a yank and came to the US in 46. My blood is mostly Brit.

BTW Southern etiquette depends on where you are. For example a proper greeting for friends and acquaintances in some areas would be a simple nod, others a wave will do. Some places it's the standard hand shake, but in my area it's a hug an a kiss on cheek if of the opposite sex.

Sorry for the hijack Peaches

Cheers

Welcome, Peach!

I'm glad that cannabis can help you with your condition. win/win. Better relief and the fun of being high :)

From a plant instead of a pill ;)

Many thanks for the warm welcome everybody "Bailers Booya"
I can't wait to start a grow journal in here. In the meantime I will be spying on all the beauties you guys (and girls) are growing ;)
