High all,

Need some help, trying to swap a Cob out on a prakasa 800w (200w actual). I've opened it up and found the following:-

There is one of these on each of the 4 cobs. Output is constant current of 0.520 amp and voltage of 70-85 so means range of 36-44w. Is it recommended to run a 50w in this or lower?

I assume you meant a 50v cob. To get the most out of that driver you'd want to use a cob close to the max voltage. You could use 2 36v cobs, such as the citizen 1212 or 1 vero 29 gen 7 72 v chip or CXB3590 72 v chip.

have a great day!

Thanks pepe, No I did mean 50w, still don't get how this works I just think of getting to a watts figure but can see it's more about the volts.

I can only locate the 36v cxb3590 in the UK and no leads for the veros. Any idea where to get these from?

@iampepe , so there isn't a minimum amount of amps, it's the voltage that needs to be matched? Guessing by running only .520a this will be efficient, but not the brightest in terms of lumens.

Thanks for your help

The Cob must be less than or equal to the voltage output. Yours is 85v so you could use two 36v cobs or single 72, you could use a 52 volt one as well. To get your watts multiply volts x amps . :pass:

Thanks, so would this cause an issue say if you had one COB rated at 36v going to this driver alone? Just weird that I swapped one out for a 50w 36v rated cob (cheap chinese made not a main brand, so not great I now learn), one is running fine but when I swapped the second out, it just flashes:-
