So I’m looking into getting a small auto pot system & if I like it I will expand the system. I am looking into their ‘spring pot 2 system’ I really like the idea of the circle pots shown below & being able to use fabric pots however the actual pot is too big for what I wanna grow. My question becomes can I put a smaller fabric pot (2-3gal.) instead of the bigger pot it comes with? What would I do about the extra diameter of sitting water space if I put a smaller pot in the system? I am currently battling with gnats & I just see that stagnant open water source as a huge breeding ground. Could I maybe add a drop or 2 of dawn soap to the sitting water so the gnats can’t stand on the water? Or Will this affect the plants? Also does any1 have a coupon code? I know I saw 1 on here the other day. :smoking:

What about if I just used a regular drain saucer with a hole where I would want the water go? Since I don’t have one in front of me I’m not quite sure this will work because of where the float valve is positioned? Any1 know?

What about something like this? Does any1 run spring pots & knows if this will maybe work so at least light won’t create algae? I’m still open for better options. :thanks:

The plant skirt will obviously cover the exposed water.. I would not try to rig up my own saucer etc.. You can if you'd like to of course.. You can also try a different size fabric pot.. I've seen others do it.. But I always recommend to use products as they were designed if you're trying to get your money's worth.

I just really want to be in smaller fabric pots the size they come with is ridiculous(for what I want to do) What about a square fabric pot to fit their original system? Does any1 know of a perfectly fitting square fabric pot?

How big is your space? Im asking because the whole point of the autopot system is to grow bigger plants by keeping the soil/medium wet. You might want to look into the easy pot set up or the 2.2 gal square pots..

Haven’t decided if it’s gonna go in 2.5x2.5 tent, 4x4 tent, or 2.5x5 closet

I Don’t want large plants however I don’t want small plants either

Also what would you guys recommend as a growing media?

Depending on how much height you have in a 2.5 x 2.5, a single 2.2 gal auto pot can easily out grow that space if not trained correctly. There's a big difference between a 2.5 x 2.5 and a 4x4.. Why have a 4x4 for small plants? Coco will grow much bigger plants than soil when in an autopot. I think you need to make other decisions before you decide what size auto pots and how many.. There are growers here on site that grow autos in 4x4s with auto pots and their tents get packed from front to back.. If you get small plants in Auto pots, it because of the genetics.. Auto pots grow big plants.. It's what they do..
