Kind of strange...I ordered some beans from Herbies last Thursday, shipped on friday, when I checked my tracking today it shows:

DATE & TIME December 2, 2013
STATUS OF ITEM Processed through USPS Sort Facility
LOCATION JAMAICA, NY 11430

Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

Usually it goes New York ISC > Jamaica, NY > sent to final destination.

Does this mean that it totally skipped customs? Has any one else seen anything like this?

I used to get that message when ordering bulk pc from china and uk.

Isn't Jamaica, NY the customs facility? I thought it was.

Yeah, normally you see isc first. If it is in Jamaica I wouldn't worry about it. With the usps it may show isc next week. Their tracking is pretty sketchy, especially during the holidays. I had a package I have been waiting for the past week. Checked it yesterday and it showed electronic notification recieved which usually means it hasn't shipped. It was at my house when I got home.

Turns out it goes to the USPS sort facility first, then customs. From the DHS website:

What is the process international mail goes through when it enters the U.S.?

Mail entering the United States from abroad first arrives at a U.S. Postal Service Sorting Facility. The Postal Service then sends packages to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for examination and to assess duty, if any is owed. CBP processing is required for civilian parcels as well as those sent from overseas military postal facilities (APO/FPO).

If CBP re-sealed a package due to examination, colored tape with the words "Examined by CBP" would be used.

Or I have heard of one guy on here say that the piece of tape they resealed his package with said dept of homeland security and had nothing inside.

Tracking can sometimes get stuck or sometimes provide invalid data. You're consignment most likely went through customs at some point.

Customs and Border Patrol are part of DHS, so that doesn't surprise me the tape said DHS on it. If they open a package and find seeds, they always confiscate them, reseal the package and send it on.

I just recently had a package opened by Chicago customs. I received the package but minus the seeds. I used Attitudes stealth shipping and true to their word they resent the order and this time everything made it intact.:thumbs:Attitude
