Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! Well, the reason for my distaste for feminized seeds is of course the implications it has if you have the goal of breeding your own varieties, but also the fact that they are somewhat expensive. It feels a lot like a scheme for monopolizing breeding with autoflowerers, masked like a ploy. But I do dig having the alternative of feminized seeds, I think those can do a lot for making growing more of a popular movement, which is what it should be, but when it's the only alternative offered from so many seedbanks I get a little bit worried about where breeding is going.
But maybe I've just gotten the wrong impression about the fems? Is it at all possible to produce viable seeds from a feminized plant?
I should also mention that I reside at northern latitudes, so autoflowering varieties could be of very practical use for me if I ever step outside, and that's the original reason for my interest in them
