I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between the two? I'm looking at a 400w MH and went with the digilux as it was half the price and I could not tell a difference between them? Actually looked as if the cheaper digilux offered more lumens... Ahh for $50 I'm sure either way will beat out this 6month old cheap $18 400w hps.
I went with a mH as I'm also using tent for vegging photos and keeping moms. So I figured an auto would do well under either mh or hps... And the mh from both digilux and from hortilux both had high red specs as well as blue....
Will see what happens ;)

Hortliux was originally created to be used in magnetic ballasts and would fail quite quickly in digital ballasts. It's an enhanced spectrum bulb (MH carrying more red, HPS carrying more blue).

Digilux is designed strictly for digital ballasts and has been known to blow in magnetic ballasts still. Hortilux is said to have rectified the issue and is usable in both digital and magnetic ballasts now. I still read about Hortilux bulbs blowing in digital or electronic ballasts. If you look at their site, they try to cover their ass in the situation saying that electronic ballasts are not made to ANSI standard.

I guess the real question is - what kind of ballast are ya running?

I'm running a digital one 400w Digital Ballast by ReVolt. So I guess I made the right choice in getting the digilux  thanks for the info! Much appreciated!
