Hi All,

Having spent the last hour or so cleaning some airpots for reuse, I suddenly wondered how everybody else does it?

My method is:
1. Having emptied the pot, undo the screws, open up to the full length and brush all surplus growing medium off with a stiff brush. (Best done outside!)
2. Run the bath with warm not hot water, add a very small amount of sterilising agent (I use Jeyes Fluid) and wearing gloves carefully ensure you scrub all of the nooks and crannies.
3. Having left to dry and washed the bath out, I then run the bath again with plain warm water, rinse and re-assemble.

Unless you buy new Airpots every grow, I'm interested as to your methods!

:gary: Happy New Year Gary!!

Chemical sterilization is drastic, extreme and unneeded! What type of microbial, insect or other organisms are people concerned with, that would remain and be a problem for a cannabis plant, for the soil put in the pot, after a simple cleaning? People are putting more drastic treatment into cleaning Air-Pots than for the dishes, silverware, etc. they eat off of!

I just blast Air-Pots visibly clean with a hose using a little dish detergent, then let them dry and get partially sterilized in the sun. They are visibly clean and only contaminated with ambient atmospheric microbes at that point. What more is needed?

Sterilized (but immediately contaminated by exposure to air, handling and the soil/media put in the pot) soil/media containers are not needed. Sterility is not the natural environment of plants. They naturally flourish with healthy soils containing great diversity, millions of ambient microbial species per mL.

I spray em with the hose. After I load em back up I spray the outside of the pot with azamax just for a precaution.
