Hey folks,

Noob here just beginning first auto grow. Received 'Short Stuff Regular' mix from Herbies on Friday, and 18 of 20 had germinated by Sunday.

I chose autos because this is a greenhouse grow, and, although I have done a successful light deprivation/photo grow previously in the greenhouse, I don't want to be a slave to what is required for a successful light-dep/greenhouse grow.

And since they are 'regular' seeds (eg there will be males) and I want to generate seeds from this group, I will need a way to transfer the keeper males to some place else.

I understand that cannabis plants grown from seeds will send out an aggressive tap root and that it is bad for the grow if this tap root get disrupted.

So my tactic here is to place the newly germinated seeds, one each, in a container that I have fashioned using burlap and copper wire:

Essentially, I have rolled individual burlap sheets into long, thin cylinders about 2 inches wide and 12 inches deep, using the copper wire to 'sew' it together, and then filling the soil. The idea is that the tap root will have plenty of room to run.

So my question is which will come first: the tap roots will 'run out of track' or the plants will show sex?

The tap root grows very fast.Ihave had roots coming out the bottom of my three gal pots in ten days.Average for sex showing is around two weeks but it depends on the strain.
