I posted this earlier today in the new growers forum but haven't had many replies so maybe here would be better!

I'm going to attempt my first grow after spending a few months of reading these forums. I'll have a ph & ec meter, hygrometer, fan & filter etc. in a 1.2x1.2m tent with a 600w HPS. My blue Automazar and Auto White Widow seeds arrived this morning and I want to get started!

After reading various scrog journals online I was thinking of trying one with 9 plants as my tent comes with 9x11 litre pots and soil to get me started. I can see the pros of doing a scrog with so many plants but what are the cons? I'd like to yield as much as I can from the tent in case I can't do another grow for a while. I don't mind all the training involved as I'm sure I will enjoy it!

If it's your first grow, why not start simple and just let them grow. You can still do Low Stress Training (LST) if you need to open them up to the light a little more.

You're probably right. I'm just afraid that I'll spend the whole grow wishing I started with a few more plants! What kind of problems do people experience with scrog that they normally wouldn't with a simplified setup?

from my limited SoG experience I have noticed that it can be harder to water plants without snapping branches. Also chance of mould increases because the bottom of plants getting no light.

I was thinking of using a hand pumped sprayer, similar to what you would spray weeds with, to water the plants. With the nozzle removed it should do the job well.

The mold problem I hadnt thought of though. I actually bought a dehumidifier in case I ran into trouble with humidity but I don't know if it would help in that case. Definitely something to consider there :Thank You:

I also use a hand pump sprayer and still find its easy to snap branches if you are not careful. That Damn wand seems to have a mind of its own sometimes lol. They do work a lot better then a watering can though. As for mould, just make sure to remove any dead leaves and you should be ok.

I have only done SoG not a ScroG ...no screen with my grows just a lot of plants. Same basic principal though. I'm sure some with ScroG experience will chime in.

It's all good bro! I just don't like to give advice on things I don't have personal experience with.
