Hey all! I've been slowly upgrading/changing my setup over the years as I'm sure you have, and now I don't have the option to let my tap water sit for a few days to dechlorinate, and I'm wondering how you guys go about dechlorinating if that isn't an option.

I've seen things for aquariums that claim to do this, but wasn't sure what kind of an effect this might have on the plants themselves, as well as the beneficial microorganisms we try to promote the growth of. Thanks!

The only other way I can think of is to have a filter setup on your water supply. My folks used to have one for their kitchen tap, but if i recall, it was rather expensive. I think this made the water softer and de-chlorinated it, but can't remember the exact details

edit.. a quick google search brought up this http://www.wikihow.com/Dechlorinate-Water

I was thinking of number 8, but number 6 might work too ^_^

Hope this helps

I occasionally use aquarium declor I don't know what effect it has but not a horrible one? They make little carbon filter that attach to the end of a garden hose that will take out chlorine.

never tried it but was always told boiled water is a no-no for plants , morso then the chlorine itself

but as i said ive never tried it so maybe all the ppl who have said it are wrong , but maybe not , i wont risk it to find out

peace

Boil your water mate

no way i'm boiling 10 gallons of water for half an hour in the summer! :P

also, how detrimental is it to the plants if i don't dechlorinate first? or is the damage mostly to the organisms in the water, which is in turn not good for the plant?

If you're not going organic it shouldn't be an issue. Or just leave a jug out over night and use that to reinoculate the soil with beneficial bacteria once a week.

first of all find out if you have chlorine or chlorimines in your water..chlorine you can let set out overnight, chlorimines you need a charcoal filter system..how do I know? ..I have chlorimines in my water, lots of cities are switching over to chlorimines ..got my self a ro system, although I was thinking about my next grow just using plain tap water and see if theres any diff.

do chlorimines smell like chlorine ? because my water reaks of it , but the smell goes away or greatly deminishes after 2 days sitting

my water doesn't smell although we have some of the best water in the country ..call you water treatment plant or the city water dept and ask them if the use chlorine or chlorimines they'll tell you if they ask tell them you want to get a water purifier for your home and need to know for the proper filter
