I thought I would share one of the treatments my DWC system and myself have found to be extremely useful and efficient. As a new grower I have read a lot of worries about foaming, algae, light proofing, temps, and root rot. All of which I think can be cured with one method. And when used correctly, CAN allow you to run high temps and get away with a non light proof container. Not that you would want to.

Ive recently come across a slight algae issue, followed by foaming and browning roots and smell.

I have buckets that are light proof and not light proof, and both prove to be suffering from the same condition.

I am running very hot in my tent, upwards of 32 degrees celcius, and water temps of 24 degrees and thought the only solution was an AC, chiller, and light proofing.

I went to my local hydro store after a lot of reading on H2O2 and picked up some grow grade 29% H2O2. I was told to add it to my water mix, LET STAND for a few hours before adding nutes. Why? H2O2 Kills beneficial bacteria. So they say. Letting it sit allows it to do its job more efficiently at first.

Within 24 hours my roots were cleared up and taking on a reddish tint (the color of my nutes)

So H2O2 for the win.

My method -

Add 1.5 ml per 4 l of water.
Let sit 3 hours
Add nutes
Dump res
Clean res with alcohol and rag
Add new H2O2 nutes solution

Ah never mind theirs already a sticky. This is a more basic method though and confirms the practice. Just throw in h202, let sit and run.
