I am relatively new to autoflower growing, I've done about 15 grows so far, still learning. In the process of learning I do some research, Stitch's stuff is obviously well respected and when choosing seeds I have grew a few of his strain. I love them all but my favourite is Dr. Feelgood. I have noticed some people have had some trouble with this strain. I have found it very easy to grow but there were a few times along the way that I thought things were not right. I wanted to tell a few things I have learned so other people can benefit. Yo, Stitch! If you read this, do you agree and can you add to my comments? Also, I heard there is Dr. Feelgood 2. Is this true and what is different?
First, this strain takes a longer time to flower and finish than other autos out there. I have grown Dr.FG in 1 and 3 gallon pots. Both times they went about 130 days to harvest.
Because of the long time (and I love this about this strain), they respond really well to LSTing. I LST'd the plant in the photo below 3 different times on three different branches. You just can not keep this plant down. They are very eager to grow.
Second, the leaves on this plant are prone to yellowing, especially as you get close to harvest. Do not worry too much if fan and bud leaves yellow or even brown and dry up. The plant looks a little worse for wear by the end. This seems to be normal. Just keep letting her grow.
During flowering these plants are thirsty. Keep a good eye on the soil every day during flowering. I usually have to water every other day. I’d like to add that all of the Dr.FG fem seeds that I tried have all sprouted and all were female.
The wait is worth it though. My favourite final product (and that is all that really matters) of all autos that I have grow so far. I recommend this strain just don't be in a hurry with it.
Side notes: I have a very modest set-up. I grow in soil under compact & tube fluorescents, 18-20 hours lights on all through each grow. The only nutes I use is Shultz liquid plant food (as directed on label) every other watering the first 3 weeks of flowering.
