New Grower Intake/Outtake Question

Hey guys,

I have a 4 inch RVK fan with Carbon Filter in a 50x50x110 MDF box as my outake.

As for my intake, could I cut a 5 inch hole at the bottom of the box and let the negative pressure drag air from the hole?

or

Would it be better to install a 5 inch PC fan?

Not an expert here, but... It is my thought that a passive intake would be what you want. For a few reasons. If the exhaust was to fail for some reason ( and trust me they do this at the most inconvenient times) you would have the intake creating positive pressure and blowing the pungent, albeit lovely, odor out of your enclosure. Balancing between in and out would cause more trouble than it may be worth all in all. I count on mine having enough negative pressure that I can open up my tent for a peek and not have to worry about the smell escaping.
I have been able to maintain a good temp and RH balance in my tent as well as odor control with a 6 inch fan with a speed control and a passive intake. That's what works for me, hopefully you'll find what works for you!!
